    Safety Procedures

    Business Aviation operates similarly to commercial airliners and respond to strict rules and regulations dictated by the Civil Aviation Authorities. Aircraft Maintenance, and pilot training are few of the mandatory steps towards obtaining an AOC.* 


    Two major regulatory organizations exist; the Federal Aviation Administration (USA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EU). All countries are governed by one of these organizations but both remain quite similar in terms of public transport (paying passengers).

    The FAA is simplified for private transport (owner flight or non-paying passengers) whereas EASA attempts to apply the requirements of commercial transport to private transport. 


    Public transport is therefore carefully monitored and regulated, and if certain key aspects are not met, the operator can lose its AOC. 


    Regular checks are carried out to flight crews and aircrafts to ensure the renewal of the AOC. 


    Medical Check: 

    Each pilot holds a license to fly aircraft. To maintain this license, flight crew have to pass technical and physical tests starting with an annual health check-up. (or semi-annually for older pilot) in order to evaluate their overall physical and mental health.  In case of any abnormalities, a temporary suspension or a revocation of license can be decided.


    Technical Check: 

    A test is performed once a year to verify the knowledge of the pilot on its aircraft and on the different airports - each airport having its own specificities. This test are done in flight stimulator with pilot instructors. 


    Aicraft Checks :

    Each aircraft goes through different checks. All checks are mandatory and all actions performed during these checks must be listed. Inspected components are numbered and hold an « expiration date ». Classified as « Checks » these inspections fall under four different categories: Checks A and B are lighter inspections, Checks C and D include extensive verifications. 


    All checks need to be performed in centres approved by aircraft manufacturers and by the supervisory authority (country of aircraft registration).

    *The AOC (Aircraft Operator Certificate) is a document delivered to airline and business aviation company by the civil aviation authority to allow it to operate passenger transport. The first certificate is valid for one year; the renewed certificate usually lasts 2 to 3 years.
