Addis Ababa Bole Airport: Private Jet Planning
Addis Ababa Bole, assess the flight at a high-elevation airport
A private jet to or from Addis Ababa Bole (ADD / HAAB) needs assessment for an airport above 2,300 m elevation. Overflight and landing permissions come under the ECAA, Ethiopia’s civil aviation authority. Our Dubai office prepares the programme with the carrier and local reception team. Request a Bole flight assessment with passenger numbers and all the proposed sectors.
Consider elevation alongside the load to be carried
Addis Ababa’s terrain places Bole at high elevation. For the traveller, this becomes a performance question: the carrier assesses the proposed aircraft with its weight, expected conditions and fuel required for the routing. A cabin fitting the party does not alone establish a nonstop departure.
We therefore submit baggage and sectors with the enquiry rather than retain an aircraft solely on its advertised range. Any technical stop should be identified in the offer. You can then compare proposals covering the same trip, with assessed timings and loading conditions. This matters particularly if a return carries more passengers or baggage than the inbound sector and therefore has different assumptions.

Prepare the permission matching the operation
The ECAA identifies its air traffic service as the contact for overflight and landing permissions.
The carrier’s application must match the requested routing and flight category. A ground reception response does not replace this part of the preparation.
We have the required information and mission timetable established. For a trip whose date may change, send the available flexibility in the first enquiry so proposals can be assessed realistically. Where the itinerary continues beyond Ethiopia, include the onward sector rather than treating each permission request as an unrelated trip.
Coordinate reception and return with the carrier
The programme needs to name Bole, ADD / HAAB and specify the passenger reporting point.
We have handling, checks and parking arrangements confirmed for the assessed aircraft. The driver then receives the same reception location as the passengers.
A return trip with several days locally raises the question of whether the aircraft waits or repositions. Charges and return availability need to be included in the comparison. Have your Addis Ababa rotation prepared with sectors, appointments and intended return date. If meeting times remain provisional, indicate that before selecting an offer so its amendment conditions can be understood.
A domestic connection uses a different process
Bole’s renovated domestic terminal was inaugurated on 18 May 2024, with an announced area of 25,750 m².
This is an installation for domestic traffic, not a private terminal automatically assigned to jet passengers. The distinction matters if you continue on a domestic flight already booked.
Send that flight’s number and time so the transfer between reception points can be prepared. International formalities and baggage collection belong in the connection time. We keep this sector separate in the programme rather than announce an immediate transfer from a terminal capacity figure. A later local departure should be coordinated against the actual private arrival arrangements.
Retain Bole in the quotation despite the Bishoftu project
Bishoftu is a separate airport project. Its development announcements do not describe installations already available at Bole. Current documents and services must name the airfield for which the operation is actually being assessed.
For cabin comparisons, our charter cost benchmarks place heavy jets from approximately EUR 6,500 per hour and ultra long range aircraft around EUR 9,000 to 12,000 per hour. These are euro category references rather than contractual Ethiopian tariffs. The programme total also includes positioning and ground charges, with the route established following performance assessment. The offer should specify those items for the same visit dates.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a private jet at Addis Ababa Bole cost?
A heavy jet provides an indicative reference from roughly EUR 6,500 per hour; ultra long range aircraft are around EUR 9,000 to 12,000 per hour. The total to or from Bole depends on routing and positioning, followed by services. These references are neither firm local tariffs nor complete rotation costs.
What determines flying time and preparation for Bole?
Flying time is assessed from your origin airport using the proposed aircraft and expected winds. The timetable depends on permissions and the aircraft, with services to confirm for the mission. We request the carrier’s application timetable for the itinerary and flight category. Send the programme as soon as it is known, including any flexibility to move the dates.
Why can elevation change the proposed routing?
Bole is above 2,300 m elevation; the carrier assesses performance with weight and expected conditions, including fuel needed for the return. A technical stop may need consideration and is identified in the offer before your decision.
Is the terminal renovated in 2024 a private jet terminal?
The terminal inaugurated on 18 May 2024 is domestic. It should not be presented as private reception. If you take an internal flight after arriving, we prepare the transfer between confirmed processes with time appropriate to formalities and baggage.
Should I request Bishoftu instead of Bole?
The Bishoftu project is separate from Bole; a development announcement does not allow an arrival to be booked using future facilities. This information and the corresponding proposal concern ADD / HAAB and the facilities and conditions actually assessed for your programme.
