Aspen Airport: Private Jets and Planned 2027 Closure

Aspen, check the dates before selecting a private jet

A private jet to or from Aspen-Pitkin (ASE / KASE) starts with the travel date. The airport announces full closure from 4 April 2027 at 23:00 to 19 November 2027 at 19:00, with the schedule subject to change.

Outside that period, elevation and curfew enter the assessment. Our Geneva office prepares the routing with the carrier. Request an Aspen proposal for your dates before retaining an aircraft.

One runway in the Roaring Fork Valley

Aspen-Pitkin, also called Sardy Field, has a single runway in the Roaring Fork Valley.

The FAA publishes an elevation of 7,838 ft, approximately 2,389 m. Terrain and elevation require a performance assessment by the carrier for the proposed aircraft.

Suitability is not decided from seat count alone.

Party size, baggage and fuel needed for the route enter the calculation. Temperature and runway state may also change the proposal. We request the mission conditions from the carrier rather than present brochure range as proof of a nonstop flight for every configuration. Different return loading should be specified before offers are compared.

The announced closure includes helicopters

Runway reconstruction plans full airport closure during the announced 2027 period. The official FAQ also includes helicopters. A helicopter flight to the airfield should therefore not be proposed as an automatic solution to runway unavailability.

For a mission within those dates, we have another authorised airport and transfer to your destination assessed. The alternative requires its own performance and service checks. The announced timetable needs verification before preparation rather than treatment as an irrevocable construction date. The proposal should make the chosen airfield clear before any car arrangements are fixed.

Build a programme compatible with Aspen’s conditions

Our team gathers stay dates and the final address, followed by group loading and useful meeting times.

As an independent broker, we ask carriers about the intended mission. An arrival suited to an appointment also needs room for formalities and travel after the aircraft.

For the return, state whether the agenda can change and whether the aircraft should wait during the stay. Have your itinerary to or from Aspen assessed with every sector included. Any alternative airport or repositioning should appear clearly when offers are compared. The conditions of a later return matter alongside the cabin offered.

Last departure differs from night closure

The operator publishes a mandatory 23:00 to 07:00 curfew and no departure after 22:30, with exceptions requiring checks.

This is separate from the voluntary Fly With Integrity noise programme. A city appointment’s finishing time needs to be related to the actual departure possibility.

We have the carrier confirm the schedule with mission conditions. Planning a 22:50 departure simply because airport closure begins at 23:00 would be insufficient. Passenger instructions account for reporting time and the operating requirements assessed. A late finish should be flagged during the enquiry rather than after a return has been retained.

The 95 ft limit describes the present airfield

The currently announced wingspan limit is 95 ft. A future 118 ft figure linked to reconstruction does not describe today’s facilities. Likewise, the new terminal announced for 2029 is separate from runway reopening planned for late 2027.

The FAA also distinguishes 8,006 ft physical length from a 7,006 ft LDA in both directions on 15/33. We have these data assessed against the flight conditions. No aircraft is retained from the maximum length alone or a future airport capacity. The quote needs to remain tied to the date and operation actually proposed.

Quote the itinerary that will actually be used

Our charter cost references place super midsize aircraft from approximately EUR 5,500 per hour and ultra long range aircraft around EUR 9,000 to 12,000 per hour.

These euro references are not contractual US tariffs. The quotation includes positioning and routing charges, with transfers and aircraft stay arrangements according to the selected services.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private trip to Aspen cost?

Super midsize aircraft give a reference from approximately EUR 5,500 per hour; ultra long range aircraft are around EUR 9,000 to 12,000 per hour. The total depends on the selected route and airfield, followed by positioning and services. These references do not establish Aspen aircraft suitability and are not firm US tariffs.

What flying time should I allow to reach Aspen?

It depends on your origin and assessed aircraft, with elevation, payload and expected conditions considered. The routing may require a technical stop or another airport to be assessed. We specify the solution and duration with the carrier before comparing offers.

Will the airport be accessible during the 2027 works?

Full closure is announced from 4 April 2027 at 23:00 to 19 November 2027 at 19:00; it also covers helicopters; another airport and transfer require assessment. The schedule remains provisional and needs rechecking for your dates.

Can I depart at 22:50 because curfew begins at 23:00?

The operator states no departures after 22:30, except exemptions to confirm. The 23:00 to 07:00 curfew is separate from the voluntary Fly With Integrity programme. We have applicable conditions checked before fixing your departure time.

Is the new 118 ft wingspan limit already in force?

The current announced limit is 95 ft; the 118 ft figure concerns the post-reconstruction project; the future terminal is planned for 2029. The quotation uses conditions actually assessed for your flight date.
