Istanbul Atatürk Airport: Private Jet Flights
General aviation still operates at Atatürk
Istanbul Atatürk (ISL / LTBA) remains active for general aviation in 2026. Airport authority DHMİ recorded 20,023 movements from January to September 2026. Runway 05/23 is 2,580 m long and the official chart identifies a general aviation terminal.
IBC Aviation’s Dubai office prepares flights to or from Istanbul with the exact airport stated. Ask us to assess your Atatürk flight with your preferred times and final meeting address.
The departure of scheduled airline services did not end all flying at the site.
Equally, an active airport does not mean that every aircraft can arrive without preparation. Our proposal specifies the airport, aircraft and stopover arrangements. The relevant pricing components are explained in our private jet charter cost guide.
Istanbul is not a precise enough airport instruction
Atatürk uses ICAO code LTBA. It is separate from Istanbul Airport, LTFM, and Sabiha Gökçen, LTFJ. Their corresponding IATA codes are ISL, IST and SAW. An enquiry that simply says Istanbul therefore leaves several airports possible, with different reception points and onward ground transfers.
If your private flight connects with an airline service, provide its flight number before settling the private jet airport. We check whether the two sectors use the same airport and prepare the required transfer. A connection between airports needs a different plan from a move between terminals.
| Airport covered here | Istanbul Atatürk |
| Codes | ISL / LTBA |
| Runway 05/23 | 2,580 × 60 m |
| Runway 05 threshold | Displaced by 130 m |
| Landing distance available on 05 | 2,450 m |
| Reception shown on the chart | General aviation terminal |
Landing on 05 uses a 2,450 m declared distance
The difference between physical runway length and usable landing distance matters at Atatürk. The runway measures 2,580 m, but threshold 05 is displaced by 130 m. In that direction the published landing distance available is 2,450 m. We ask the operator to assess the data corresponding to the intended operation.
Aircraft mass, weather and runway condition are also part of that assessment.
The 2,580 m physical length is not blanket approval for any large jet. For a longer departure, the fuel required and aircraft performance limits must be evaluated together by the operating company, rather than inferred from a runway headline.
Planning Atatürk with IBC Aviation
Our Dubai office assembles the itinerary and coordinates aircraft selection and reception with the local parties. Describe your itinerary to or from Atatürk, including passenger numbers, luggage and preferred local times. The departure country, travellers’ nationalities and any airline connection help establish which formalities need checking.
We have the meeting point and conditions for the travel date confirmed before issuing the final arrangements. Neither night access nor a fixed time through controls can be promised from the airport name alone. Your driver receives the correct terminal information and a collection time aligned with the confirmed flight.
A general aviation terminal and hangar facilities
The DHMİ chart issued in May 2026 identifies the general aviation terminal and hangars. It establishes that facilities are present, rather than that a place is available for your aircraft. If hangarage matters, raise it at the initial enquiry so availability can be checked against the dates, dimensions and services required.
A brief visit concentrates on passenger reception and ground time around the appointment.
A longer stay requires a separate parking and return plan. We distinguish a facility appearing on an airport chart from a service that has actually been reserved for your flight.
Aircraft suitability follows the mission
For a European or regional sector, a Challenger 350 may be assessed against payload and cabin requirements. For a longer trip, the Falcon 8X belongs to a different category. Considering those models does not establish availability or approval for the requested operation.
Indicative super midsize rates start at EUR 5,500 per hour. Ultra long range aircraft are around EUR 9,000 to EUR 12,000 per hour. These are euro references, rather than a binding local rate or total Istanbul fare. Positioning, handling, airport charges and the return programme form part of the full quotation.
The proposal should make it possible to compare matching programmes: which airport is used, whether an aircraft waits, and which additional sectors are included. Giving an assistant the confirmed airport identity early also helps avoid booking a driver or airline connection against the wrong terminal.
Receive a proposal that clearly identifies Atatürk, the aircraft assessed and the planned stopover arrangements.

Frequently asked questions
Can I still charter a private jet to or from Atatürk?
Yes. The airport remains active for general aviation in 2026. Flight acceptance and reception must be confirmed with the operator and handler for the travel date.
How much does a private flight at Atatürk cost?
The quotation depends on routing and aircraft. Indicative super midsize rates start at EUR 5,500 per hour; positioning and charges contribute to the total programme cost.
Is Atatürk the same airport as IST?
No. Atatürk uses ISL / LTBA. Istanbul Airport uses IST / LTFM and Sabiha Gökçen uses SAW / LTFJ. The exact airport should appear on your itinerary.
Does a hangar on the chart mean space is available for my stay?
Its presence does not guarantee a place. We have availability checked for the aircraft, dates and duration required before selecting that service.
