Munich Airport: Private Jets and GAT Access

Munich, a business aviation entrance on the east side

A private flight to or from Munich, MUC / EDDM, is arranged through the General Aviation Terminal, or GAT. It is located east of the airfield at Straße Allgemeine Luftfahrt 1. Published operations run from 06:00 to 22:00.

Another relevant distinction is that the airport states ground handling is not mandatory at the GAT. Send us your Munich itinerary to assess the aircraft, reception and services together.

Our Luxembourg office supports flight planning across Europe. As an independent broker, IBC Aviation compares operator proposals and arranges services around the trip requested.

Follow signs for the GAT rather than Terminals 1 and 2

The GAT has a separate entrance. Your driver should follow General Aviation or GAT signs and the meeting point confirmed for the flight. A general airport address may lead to the wrong drop-off area.

Car park P35 serves this reception; the airport does not advertise direct public transport to the GAT. That information concerns the business aviation terminal, not Munich's airline terminals, which have their own transport links.

Where you combine an airline service with a private flight, we include the transfer between the two reception points. The allowance depends on the arriving flight and relevant formalities. It should be established in the connection programme rather than assumed from a single general rule.

Two 4,000 m runways, with each mission assessed

Munich has two parallel runways, each 4,000 m long. These dimensions describe the infrastructure and support assessment of different missions. They do not replace the operator's performance validation for your particular trip.

Weight, weather and the distances actually available are reviewed for the flight. For the passenger, providing baggage and cabin requirements at the outset is useful: they can influence both the proposed aircraft and its arrangements.

Optional handling, with practical needs to arrange

Ground handling is optional at Munich's GAT. We arrange the services needed for the aircraft and the travelling party with the operator.

We establish the operator's requirements for the turnaround and the passenger services you want. Baggage arrangements and the departure meeting point still need coordination; the travel formalities continue to apply regardless of how ground services are organised.

Your tailored charter enquiry can include a chauffeur transfer or an onward connection. For a longer visit, we also examine parking and the return arrangements. Hangars are adjacent to the GAT, but space must be requested and confirmed for the aircraft concerned.

Terminal hours and admission conditions

The offices open at 05:30, before the GAT's published operating window begins at 06:00. An open office does not by itself allow a departure at 05:30. The operator needs to check the conditions for the requested movement.

The GAT admits aircraft with a departure weight above 2 tonnes, excluding scheduled services and programmed charter services. Private charter on demand is distinct from those programmed operations. The terminal's admission conditions therefore need to be read against the actual nature of the flight.

For a return after an event, provide the expected finishing time and any flexibility. We match passenger availability to GAT hours, then have the complete flight reviewed before confirmation.

Which cabin fits your Munich programme?

A Citation XLS may be compared for a European business trip. A Challenger 350 provides another option where the party needs a different cabin or programme. Configuration and availability are checked for each proposal.

For several stops, tell us which appointments are fixed and which can move. We examine aircraft capability alongside crew arrangements and the requirements of each stop; the comparison then serves the whole mission rather than a single sector.

The flight price goes beyond an hourly rate

As an indication, midsize jets start at approximately EUR 4,800 per flight hour. Our private aviation pricing guide explains category differences. This figure is not the total cost of a trip to or from Munich.

The quotation also considers positioning, airport charges, selected ground services and the return. We bring these elements together for your actual itinerary. Provide your dates and passenger numbers to compare appropriate proposals.

Frequently asked questions

Is ground handling compulsory at Munich's GAT?

No. The official GAT page states that handling is not mandatory. The operator and IBC Aviation arrange the services needed for the aircraft and passengers. Travel formalities and reception coordination still need preparation.

How much does a private jet to or from Munich cost?

Midsize jets start at an indicative EUR 4,800 per flight hour. The total quotation also reflects positioning, airport charges, selected services and the return programme.

Can I take public transport directly to the GAT?

The airport does not advertise direct public transport to the GAT. Services to Terminals 1 and 2 should not be confused with access to the business aviation terminal. A suitable transfer can be arranged using the confirmed meeting point.

If the offices open at 05:30, can we depart then?

Office opening at 05:30 is separate from GAT operations, published from 06:00 to 22:00. A flight time must be assessed with the operator under the applicable conditions rather than inferred from administrative opening hours.
