Africa Business Charter: Planning a Multi-City Itinerary

An African business itinerary, checked sector by sector

A multi-city business charter in Africa needs a schedule in local times, passenger movements for every sector and the expected time on the ground. The aim is to keep the meetings workable without assuming one aircraft can undertake the whole itinerary. In Senegal, a one-off permission normally has 72-hour validity, subject to its terms or particular cases under the published text. Our Geneva office checks these constraints with the operator: for several stops, submit your African business itinerary before confirming the invitations.

Which details prevent a complete rewrite of the schedule?

The 72-hour validity in article 5 of the Senegalese text reproduced in the AIP shows why provisional dates must be identified. A postponement may require a review of the permission, rather than automatically requiring a fresh application. We send changes to the operator to establish what remains valid.

  • Appointments: exact address, local time, expected length and acceptable margin.
  • Travellers: names, nationalities and each person's boarding and disembarkation points for every sector.
  • Luggage: quantities and dimensions, including a description of business equipment.
  • End of day: overnight stay, essential return or scope to move the next flight.
  • Decision-maker: the person authorised to approve changes for the whole delegation.

A participant joining midway changes the passenger file and may affect the assessment of transport rights. We need that information before quoting. A simple seat count can conceal the difference. Describe each person's movements, including anyone who joins for a short sector and leaves the group before the final return.

Should the jet wait nearby or be released?

Two arrangements deserve comparison: the aircraft waits between meetings, or it repositions before the next flight. The AIPs for Abidjan, edition dated 22 January 2026, and Dakar don't publish visitor hangar provision in the relevant section. We therefore confirm parking arrangements instead of promising unrestricted time on the ground.

An aircraft staying nearby may avoid additional movements. Parking, crew accommodation and the terms for waiting still need checking. The alternative proposal should identify repositioning sectors, their effect on the cost and expected availability for the next departure. Both options need the same assumptions about your meetings and return date.

Crew rest also affects the operating day. A meeting running late can change the departure time even when the jet is still parked. We check the schedule margin and possible arrangements with the operator before offering flexibility the crew could not provide. Keeping the aircraft nearby does not extend the crew's permitted working hours.

Organising your business itinerary with IBC Aviation

Paris and Geneva coordinate programmes linked to Europe, while Dubai handles departures from the Gulf. The Ivorian ANAC guide dated 18 October 2023 specifies four working days for relevant applications. Our Geneva office gathers the information early enough to check the regime, ground handling and commercial rights for every planned sector.

Ask us to compare waiting and repositioning for your route, indicating which meetings are confirmed. We source a certified operator, then examine the proposed aircraft, luggage capacity and timetable. This extends our approach to multi-stop business travel with the particular requirements of the countries on your programme.

Planning example: a meeting in Abidjan followed by an appointment in Dakar the next day. After checking the permissions, we compare an overnight wait with a repositioning arrangement, including the costs and crew schedule for both options.

Why does a domestic sector change the assessment?

Crossing a border and carrying passengers on a paid domestic sector involve different rights. Article 7 of the Chicago Convention lets states refuse the cabotage concerned. We have passenger movements classified for each sector and seek an operator authorised for the operation wherever the programme requires it.

Keeping the same passengers doesn't settle the question. The operator's state of establishment, the mission and the permissions matter too. A change of aircraft may therefore need consideration, including baggage and transfer arrangements. It can be planned before departure instead of becoming a problem after the last meeting.

What budget should you compare for a business itinerary?

A super-midsize jet starts at €5,500 per hour, while a heavy jet starts at €6,500 per hour. These category references don't establish the cost of an entire itinerary. The complete amount also depends on the stops and waiting days, alongside the aircraft actually available to undertake the programme.

Ask for a clear scope: billed hours, positioning, taxes, local handling and time on the ground. Our hourly charter pricing helps put the category in context, but multiplying that reference by the flight hours doesn't produce a quotation. We compare complete proposals and the terms for changing the itinerary.

Our Paris office prepares flights to or from the cities on your programme: send your appointments and the flexibility around them.

Frequently asked questions

What does a multi-city business charter in Africa cost?

A super-midsize jet starts at €5,500 per hour and a heavy jet at €6,500 per hour. The complete budget also depends on positioning sectors, overnight stays, parking and local charges. We compare waiting with repositioning against the same programme, rather than deriving an automatic package price from flight hours.

How long should I allow between two meetings?

The gap needs to cover the end of the meeting, ground transfer, formalities and flight. Abidjan-Dakar is approximately 1,800 km, with an estimated flight time of 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours. The operator confirms that time for the conditions. It cannot, alone, establish arrival at the next appointment.

Can a stop be postponed after the permissions are issued?

Any change needs checking. Senegal’s published text normally gives a one-off permission 72-hour validity, subject to its terms or particular cases. A postponement may therefore require a review. Our teams check with the operator what needs adjusting, rather than promising an automatic change or assuming a fresh application is always required.

Can the aircraft wait for several nights?

Waiting depends on the airport, parking arrangements and crew. The Abidjan and Dakar AIPs consulted in 2026 don’t publish visitor hangar provision in the relevant section. That doesn’t establish physical impossibility. We confirm the arrangements available and compare them with the costs and scheduling consequences of repositioning the aircraft.

Can a European jet undertake every domestic sector?

There is no general answer. Article 7 of the Chicago Convention recognises states’ right to refuse certain paid domestic transport. The operator must be authorised for the particular operation; we check passenger movements and sector rights, then assess another aircraft where the mission requires it.
