A domestic flight: entry formalities happen once

The Thai AIP requires a customs airport for aircraft entering or leaving Thailand. Bangkok to Chiang Mai does neither. Customs and immigration are therefore cleared once, at the first airport of entry into the country, and the TDAC digital arrival card, required for each entry into Thailand, is not repeated for this leg.

Leaving Chiang Mai: the declared time matters

Every flight at Chiang Mai takes part in the airport's collaborative decision-making system. The time the aircraft will leave its stand is declared in advance, the start-up time is issued 40 minutes before, and the crew must call air traffic control within a five-minute window around it. The declared time can be changed no more than five times.

For you, the rule is simple: tell us about a delay as soon as you know. We have the declared time corrected once, at the right moment, rather than lose the departure sequence.

Outbound, nothing of the kind slows Don Mueang: an 08:00 departure lands at around 09:10, and the return can leave late in the evening since both airfields stay open.
