Dog USA-Europe by Private Jet, Plan Both Flights

Your dog between the USA and Europe, planning both crossings

To travel with your dog by private jet to or from the United States, prepare both flights before you leave. Entry or re-entry into the USA requires a dog aged at least six months and a review of every country it has visited during the previous six months. For entry into the European Union, health certificate models changed in October 2026. Our Nice office coordinates the flight selection with the veterinarian’s and carrier’s checks; send your cities, dates and your dog’s details to request a quote for your USA-Europe flight with your dog.

What does a transatlantic charter with your dog cost?

A one-way Paris-New York flight, for example, costs €115,000 in a Falcon 7X with 14 seats, for approximately 7h25 flying time. This is an aircraft charter price, rather than a passenger fare plus a pet ticket. The actual cabin layout and the space needed for your dog may affect the number of passengers accommodated.

Our ultra-long-range category is priced at €9,000 to €12,000 per flying hour. The mission, aircraft positioning and requested services determine the quote; multiplying an hourly figure by a flight duration does not establish the trip price. The offer specifies acceptance of the dog, alongside the charter pricing considerations.

USA to France: the certificate required since October 2026

The European framework changed on 22 April 2026. For a departure from the USA being prepared now, the new USDA non-commercial certificate models have been required since 1 October 2026. A USDA-accredited veterinarian prepares the documentation, then USDA endorses it.

For the USA-France process, carry a paper copy of the completed, USDA-endorsed certificate, following the arrangements confirmed with your veterinarian.

Official endorsement must fall within the ten days before entry into the EU. The window runs to the arrival checks, rather than simply to takeoff from the USA. Our team checks the dates with your veterinarian. Following the entry checks, the certificate permits further travel within the EU for up to six months, or until the rabies vaccination expires if earlier.

  • Identification: a readable microchip implanted or scanned before the valid rabies vaccination
  • Vaccination: primary vaccination from 12 weeks of age, followed by at least 21 days, or longer where the manufacturer’s immunity period requires it
  • Itinerary: the USA normally benefits from the rabies antibody test exemption for EU entry; another country visited or transited can change the assessment

Habitual residence also matters. The European Commission states that a non-EU resident cannot use an EU pet passport to enter with an animal from their country of residence, even if they own a home in France. An EU resident returning from a holiday is a different case.

Arrange both flights with IBC Aviation

Our Nice office examines the complete itinerary: owner and accompanying person, countries visited, vaccination dates, total number of animals, dog’s weight and dimensions, passengers and luggage. We arrange checks on acceptance aboard the proposed aircraft, the entry point and presentation to the authorities. Your veterinarian issues the documents within their remit.

Returning from a different European country, adding a stop or changing dates may mean repeating those checks. Include your return plans when you ask us to assess both flights with your dog. We examine candidates including the Falcon 7X, according to the mission and acceptance of the dog.

US re-entry depends on the previous six months

Every dog entering the United States must appear healthy, be at least six months old and have a detectable microchip. The next steps depend on the previous six months of travel and, where a high-risk country has been visited, where the rabies vaccination was administered. The final departure airport does not describe that full history.

  • Only dog-rabies-free or low-risk countries: CDC requires its Dog Import Form and receipt, one per dog. Under the applicable conditions, the receipt can be used for six months, with the departure country matching the actual return flight
  • US vaccination and a high-risk country visit: the CDC receipt must be accompanied by the Certification of U.S.-issued Rabies Vaccination. This specific form must be prepared and endorsed before the dog leaves the USA
  • Vaccination outside the USA and high-risk history: requirements include a reservation at a CDC-registered animal care facility and arrival at the associated airport. Without a valid rabies serology titer, the reservation must include 28 days of quarantine

USDA requirements and those of the destination state may also apply. With your veterinarian, we use the CDC requirements applicable to your dog before choosing a US airport. A European travel health certificate does not automatically replace the return documents.

France, Switzerland and Great Britain require separate checks

In France, the animal and its documents must be presented to customs at an authorised travellers’ entry point, including when arriving through a business aviation terminal. Importation of first-category dogs is prohibited; second-category dogs are subject to conditions. We request the necessary breed documentation before proposing the flight.

For a direct accompanied arrival in Switzerland from a third country, the Swiss veterinary authority lists Basel, Geneva and Zurich. Customs presentation and documents are checked under the Swiss procedure. A French clearance does not establish approval for a Swiss arrival.

Great Britain requires an approved carrier and route. A chartered private plane is an exception to the cargo requirement, while health formalities still apply. For an ordinary arrival from the USA or France, a veterinarian must administer and record the tapeworm treatment between 24 and 120 hours before entry. We check the timing with the carrier; Northern Ireland follows a separate process.

Accompaniment, animal numbers and cabin acceptance

Paying for the aircraft does not, by itself, make the dog’s movement a commercial animal import. The animal health regime depends on factors including the absence of a sale or transfer of ownership, and accompaniment. An authorised person may accompany the dog if the owner travels within five days before or after it, with the required written authorisation.

Have the total number of animals assessed with the competent authority, without assuming five animals per passenger on a charter. On board, space, restraint and any container follow the operator’s agreement. Your veterinarian assesses fitness to travel.

For a departure to or from the USA, send us your transatlantic itinerary and your dog’s travel details. Your contact coordinates the flight proposal and the necessary checks with the professionals concerned.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a USA-Europe private jet flight with a dog cost?

For example, a one-way Paris-New York flight in a 14-seat Falcon 7X costs €115,000 for approximately 7h25 flying time. The quote identifies the aircraft, the passenger capacity actually available with the dog and the transport conditions. Veterinary formalities are prepared separately with your veterinarian.

How long is a Paris-New York flight with my dog?

Allow approximately 7h25 flying time towards New York as a planning reference. The actual duration depends on the aircraft, winds and routing; the return is calculated separately. Add transfers and checks. Acceptance of the dog and any container are confirmed before the final aircraft selection.

Is an EU pet passport enough if I live in the United States?

No. The European Commission states that a non-EU resident must follow the entry procedure from their country of residence, even if they own a European home. For USA-France, have a USDA-accredited veterinarian prepare the current certificate and obtain USDA endorsement of the certificate within the applicable EU entry window.

What should I prepare before departure if my dog returns to the USA after visiting a high-risk country?

Vaccination location and the previous six months of travel determine the CDC procedure. For a US-vaccinated dog, the specific US vaccination certification must be prepared and endorsed before departure from the United States. A foreign-vaccinated dog with high-risk history follows a different process, potentially requiring an airport associated with a registered animal care facility.

Can my dog stay with me in the cabin on every chartered jet?

Cabin transport must be accepted by the operator for the proposed aircraft. Provide the total animal count, weight, dimensions and passenger numbers so that space and restraint conditions can be checked. Health documents and border admission remain separate from that transport acceptance.
