Private Jet to Clermont-Ferrand: Business Terminal and Hours

Clermont-Ferrand by private jet, 45 minutes from Paris

The airport is managed by VINCI Airports and run day to day by SEACFA, the local operating company, on behalf of the joint authority that owns Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne airport. Scheduled services and business aviation each have their own terminal, and the city centre is 15 to 20 minutes away by road according to the Union of French Airports. The airport also rents out meeting rooms, so a meeting can be held without leaving the airport.

A business terminal that closes at weekends

The business aviation terminal publishes weekday hours: Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 19:30, with an extended opening available on request. A Saturday or Sunday flight goes through that extension, and so does an evening departure.

The airfield itself does not close. The tower operates around the clock, the passenger terminal from 05:30 to 22:30 every day, and rescue and firefighting cover stays at level 7 from 07:00 to 23:00, then at level 5 to 7 on 24 hours' notice. An 18:00 departure on a Tuesday fits the framework; the same departure at 21:00, or a Saturday morning return, needs an additional terminal opening.

We send that request to the terminal, at fbo@aeroport-clermont.fr, together with the handling request.

Ground handling: 48 hours' notice

The AIP makes handling mandatory for every aircraft above 3 tonnes, business or commercial, and lists it as provided on request with 48 hours' notice to SEACFA. For business aviation, the request goes first through the airport's online booking platform, or directly to the terminal.

A flight decided the day before falls outside that window and then depends on the handler's agreement. It is the first point we lock down once the aircraft is chosen. In winter, de-icing is provided by the same company.

Border control: police on duty from 08:30 to 19:30

Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne is a designated border crossing point. According to the AIP, the border police are present every day from 08:30 to 19:30 local time, while customs publishes no permanent hours and deals with specific requests.

For a flight from outside the Schengen area, from London, Dubai or New York, the arrival is best timed within that window. Outside it, the regional duty service has to be called in. That is arranged in advance, before your passengers' schedule is confirmed.

Sustainable aviation fuel at the pump

Clermont supplies Jet A1 blended with sustainable aviation fuel from 06:00 to 22:00, alongside standard Jet A1. The Union of French Airports listing gives a 30% blend, supplied by TotalEnergies. For a company that reports the emissions of its travel, the request belongs at the quotation stage, because its use has to be confirmed with the selected operator.

Michelin and Limagrain, the business addresses

Michelin's global headquarters stands on place des Carmes-Déchaux in Clermont-Ferrand. Limagrain, a seed and agri-food group whose parent company is a farmers' cooperative, lists its address at the Biopôle Clermont-Limagne in Saint-Beauzire, according to the legal notice on its website.

From Paris, a same-day return leaves most of the day on the ground: about 45 minutes in the air each way, then 15 to 20 minutes by road to the centre. From Geneva the flight takes roughly 35 minutes, and from Lyon about 25 minutes.

The Chaîne des Puys, World Heritage since 2018

The Chaîne des Puys and the Limagne fault have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since July 2018. The Puy-de-Dôme departmental council, which manages the site, describes it as the first natural property listed in mainland France, the four other French natural sites all being on islands.

For a stay that combines meetings and volcanoes, arriving on Friday before 19:30 avoids requesting a terminal opening on a Saturday.

Which private jet for Clermont-Ferrand

At 3,013 metres, the runway rules out no category; distance and cabin make the choice.

  • Citation CJ3: six passengers and 3h30 of range, for a same-day return from Paris or Geneva, from €4,000 per hour as a light jet
  • Phenom 300: seven seats, for London, about 1h15 away, or Brussels, just over an hour
  • Citation XLS: eight passengers and 1.73 m of cabin height, for a delegation, from €4,800 per hour
  • Heavy jets: for a non-stop arrival from Dubai, the runway imposes no length restriction, from €6,500 per hour

The full range is shown on our fleet page, and starting rates by category on our private jet rental cost page, with no fixed price published for Clermont-Ferrand. To match a category to a distance, our guide to range by aircraft category sets out the benchmarks.

Chartering to or from Clermont-Ferrand with IBC Aviation

We own no aircraft: IBC Aviation selects the operator and the aircraft, then coordinates what the airport requires. At Clermont-Ferrand, three checks come before every confirmation: the day and time against the business terminal's hours, the 48-hour handling notice and, for a flight from outside Schengen, the hours when border police are on duty.

Our Paris office handles these flights, and our Geneva office, about 35 minutes' flying time away, looks after departures from Switzerland. What a private terminal actually covers is explained in our magazine.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Clermont-Ferrand business terminal open at weekends?

Not within its published hours, which run from Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 19:30. An extended opening can be requested for a Saturday, a Sunday or an evening. We ask the terminal for it at the same time as the handling request, which carries a published notice period of 48 hours.

How much notice does ground handling need at Clermont-Ferrand?

Forty-eight hours, according to the AIP, with SEACFA, which provides the handling that is mandatory for every aircraft above 3 tonnes. For business aviation, the request goes first through the airport's online booking platform, or to the terminal at fbo@aeroport-clermont.fr.

Can a private jet land at Clermont-Ferrand at night or in fog?

The control tower is open 24 hours a day, and the 3,013 metre runway has a Category III ILS, which allows landings in very low visibility for qualified crews and aircraft. The business terminal, however, closes at 19:30 on weekdays unless an extension is requested.

Can a flight from London or Dubai arrive at Clermont-Ferrand?

Yes, the airport is a designated border crossing point. Border police are present every day from 08:30 to 19:30 local time, and customs deals with specific requests. A non-Schengen arrival is best timed within that window; beyond it, the duty service has to be requested in advance.

Is sustainable aviation fuel available at Clermont-Ferrand?

The airport supplies Jet A1 blended with sustainable aviation fuel from 06:00 to 22:00, alongside standard Jet A1, and the Union of French Airports listing mentions a 30% blend supplied by TotalEnergies. Its use is confirmed with the operator at the quotation stage.
