FIAC: the Paris art fair now replaced by Art Basel Paris
Does FIAC still exist?
No. The last edition of FIAC was held in October 2021. In January 2022, the public body running the Grand Palais reassigned the October slot, until then held by FIAC, to the MCH Group, parent company of Art Basel, following an open tender. RX France, FIAC's long-standing organiser, did not relaunch the fair elsewhere. FIAC has therefore given up its place, though contemporary art has not left Paris: Art Basel Paris now fills that role.
FIAC, from 1974 to 2021
Founded in 1974, FIAC established itself over the decades as one of the world's major contemporary art fairs, set beneath the glass nave of the Grand Palais. Each autumn it brought together close to one hundred and seventy international galleries and set the rhythm of artistic life in Paris.
The fair was not limited to the Grand Palais. Its "Hors les Murs" programme took over emblematic sites across the city, from the Jardin des Tuileries to the Place Vendôme and the Petit Palais, offering the public free-access works in a unique setting. This presence throughout the city left a lasting mark on the event's identity.
Art Basel Paris, FIAC's successor
FIAC's successor was first called "Paris+ par Art Basel", for its 2022 and 2023 editions, held at the Grand Palais Éphémère while the Grand Palais was being renovated. In 2024, the fair was renamed Art Basel Paris and returned to the restored Grand Palais. It now brings together more than two hundred galleries from around forty countries, organised into several sectors.
Like FIAC before it, Art Basel Paris extends beyond the Grand Palais with a public programme across the city, notably at the Jardin des Tuileries, the Place Vendôme and the Petit Palais. The next edition runs from 23 to 25 October 2026. To learn more about the fair and the Art Basel world, see our dedicated article on Art Basel.

Paris art week in October
Beyond the main fair, October has become a true art week in Paris. Around Art Basel Paris orbit several satellite fairs, such as Asia Now and Paris Internationale, along with many exhibitions and events in galleries and institutions. The capital thus confirms its place as one of the world's leading moments of the contemporary art market, which makes it a period of high demand.
Reaching Paris by private jet for art week
For a trip to Paris, Paris-Le Bourget (LBG) is Europe's leading business-aviation airport, about fifteen kilometres from the centre, roughly thirty minutes from the Grand Palais depending on traffic. The airports of Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly and Villacoublay are alternatives subject to availability. A private jet lets you arrive at the time you choose, without the constraints of scheduled flights, which is valuable during such a busy period.
Flight times stay short from Europe's main cities: about 1h20 from London and a little over an hour from Geneva, depending on the aircraft. You can review the suitable categories in our aircraft fleet and prepare your visit with our Paris by private jet page.
