What defines a heavy jet

Three things separate this class from the segments below it. The cabin allows you to stand and to move, which changes what a six hour sector feels like. The hold is accessible in flight, so luggage and equipment stay within reach. And the range, six to nine hours on our published figures, removes the technical stop on most of the sectors our clients actually fly: Europe to the Gulf, Europe to West Africa, Europe to the American East Coast.

Cabin configurations in this class generally run from eight to fourteen seats. The right number for you depends less on the model than on how the operator has laid the cabin out, which is why we confirm the actual configuration of the actual aircraft before every quote.

Heavy jet charter starts from EUR 6,500 per hour. Aircraft, crew, fuel, ground handling and navigation charges are included. De-icing, additional passengers, special catering, wi-fi and airport opening outside published hours are charged separately.

When a heavy jet is the right answer, and when it is not

It is the right answer when the cabin is full, the sector is long, and the flight has to be usable: a board meeting in the air, a delegation travelling together, an itinerary with luggage or equipment.

It is the wrong answer on a one hour European sector with four passengers, where a midsize jet costs less and reaches more airports. And it stops short beyond nine hours, where the ultra long range category takes over.

What is the range of a heavy jet?

Six to nine hours of flight on our published figures, which covers Europe to the Gulf, Europe to West Africa and Europe to the American East Coast without a technical stop. A full cabin with hold luggage reduces that figure, so the real answer is given route by route.

How many passengers does a heavy jet carry?

What is the difference between a heavy jet and an ultra long range jet?

Range, mainly. A heavy jet flies six to nine hours; an ultra long range jet flies ten to fifteen and adds a genuine sleeping cabin and a crew rest area. Below nine hours, the heavy jet is usually the better value.
