Private Jet to Annecy: NCY Airport, Runway and Winter Rules
Annecy by private jet: 1,314 m to land on a 1,630 m runway
The AIP lists the field as Annecy-Meythet. VINCI Airports has run it on behalf of the Haute-Savoie department since 1 January 2022; its investment plan, announced at €10 million when it took over, includes renewing the runway. Ground handling comes from the operating company, SEAAM, reachable through the airport's website.

1,314 m: the distance that actually counts
The physical length plays no part in the calculation. Obstacles beside the runway strip or in the take-off climb area have cut the declared distances: 1,332 m for landing on runway 04, heading north-east, and 1,314 m on runway 22. For take-off, the run available is 1,530 and 1,544 m.
The Union des Aéroports Français lists 1,630 m and the airport's own site 1,598 m, but the aircraft operator works from the declared distance. It then applies the regulatory margins of commercial air transport and, in winter, the corrections for a wet or contaminated runway.
Direction matters too. Instrument approaches lead to runway 04; landing on 22 means a visual manoeuvre along a prescribed track, by day only, with the PAPI set at 5.3°, against 3.5° on 04. Any jet departing from 04 backtracks the full runway to line up at the threshold.
A mountain airfield that requires a trained crew
The AIP sets special operating requirements at Annecy because of the terrain around the aerodrome. They apply to every commercial aeroplane flight, which covers every charter, and to private flights in aeroplanes whose reference take-off distance exceeds 1,200 m.
The operator must write Annecy-specific instructions and train its pilots: theoretical training on the planned procedures for every captain and, for night flights or below a 3,000 ft ceiling and 5,000 m visibility, training in a suitable simulator, or on site in visual conditions in an aeroplane of the same category.
Compliance is checked during ramp inspections. We have the operator confirm it before every quote, as at other airports with operational restrictions. Without that, we do not book the flight.
Tower 09:00 to 19:00, customs 08:00 to 20:00
Annecy tower is open from 09:00 to 19:00 local time, hours the AIP publishes in UTC, and can be extended for a handled flight on prior request. That extension matters: outside air traffic services hours, whether tower or the flight information service notified by NOTAM, approach procedures are prohibited.
Customs accept international flights from 08:00 to 20:00, with 24 hours' notice lodged with the airport operator and compliance with Schengen and customs rules. The Union des Aéroports Français lists the field as a border crossing point.
For any aircraft of 3 tonnes or more, a handling request through the MyHandling portal is mandatory. Handling runs from 08:00 to 19:00 and Jet A1 is delivered on the stand from 09:00 to 19:00. Rescue and firefighting cover is category 5 from 08:00 to 19:00, extendable on request.
Winter weekends: an authorisation number for every landing
Annecy is a schedule-facilitated airport under EU regulation 95/93, designated by an order of 30 July 2013. The scheme covers Saturdays, Sundays and certain Fridays from mid-December to mid-April, plus 1 and 2 January, on dates notified by NOTAM.
On those days every landing requires a prior request to the appointed facilitator, the COHOR association, which issues an authorisation number to be entered in the flight plan. Business aviation goes through the airport operator, via MyHandling or fbo@annecy-airport.com. Annecy also cannot be used as a diversion aerodrome on those days.
Winter brings its own logistics. De-icing is ordered with 45 minutes' notice, and the AIP lists two hangar providers for visiting aircraft, Avialpes and Annecy Jet Center.
Which aircraft for a 1,314 m landing distance
In the mountains and on this length, the runway chooses before the passenger count does.
- PC-12: a turboprop seating 6 passengers with luggage, the aircraft that leaves the widest margin.
- Citation CJ3: a light jet for up to 6 passengers, suited to a return trip from Paris or Nice.
- Phenom 300: a 7-seat light jet; with ski luggage on board, the weight calculation comes before confirmation.
- Citation XLS: an 8-seat midsize jet, feasible depending on weight and runway condition.
Beyond that, a super midsize or heavier aircraft is better landed at Geneva Airport, with its 3,900 m runway. Hourly rates start from €4,000 for a light jet and €4,800 for a midsize jet, with the other categories on our private jet rental cost page.
Flight times, and Geneva as the fallback
Allow about 50 minutes from Paris-Le Bourget or Luxembourg, 40 from Nice, 35 from Zurich, 1 h 05 from Brussels and 1 h 20 from London-Farnborough, depending on the aircraft, winds and slots.
Geneva takes every category, on its own terms: at least four slots an hour reserved for business aviation, allocated no earlier than eight weeks before the flight, and no landings between midnight and 05:00. A heavy jet from Dubai reaches it in about 6 h 35. By road, the Union des Aéroports Français puts Annecy airport around thirty minutes from Geneva, some fifty from Megève and an hour from Chamonix.
June 2027: the Annecy Festival and Mifa
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival runs from 13 to 19 June 2027, and its market, Mifa, from 15 to 18 June, according to the organiser, CITIA. The 2026 edition drew 19,100 accredited attendees, 7,180 of them for Mifa, a record.
June falls outside schedule facilitation: what remains is the handling request and, for an international flight, the customs notice.
Chartering to or from Annecy with IBC Aviation
Our Geneva head office arranges these flights and checks three points before confirming: the operator's performance calculation on 1,314 or 1,332 m, the crew's Annecy training and, on a winter weekend, the COHOR number. Our private jet charter in Geneva page introduces the office, and our article on the added value of a charter broker sets out the method.

Frequently asked questions
Can a private jet land at Annecy?
Yes, on a 1,630 m runway for which the AIP declares 1,332 m available for landing on runway 04 and 1,314 m on runway 22. Light jets and the PC-12 are the best suited; a midsize jet depends on its weight, and heavier aircraft go through Geneva.
Do you need approval to land at Annecy on a winter weekend?
Yes. From mid-December to mid-April, on Saturdays, Sundays and certain Fridays, plus 1 and 2 January, every landing requires a prior request to the COHOR association, made through the airport operator. The authorisation number goes into the flight plan. Exact dates are notified by NOTAM.
How late can a private jet arrive at Annecy?
The tower operates from 09:00 to 19:00 local time, with a possible extension for a handled flight, and approach procedures are prohibited outside air traffic services hours. Customs accept international flights from 08:00 to 20:00, with 24 hours' notice.
Why must the crew be trained to land at Annecy?
Because of the terrain. The AIP requires every commercial aeroplane flight to follow Annecy-specific operator instructions. Every captain completes theoretical training. At night, or below a 3,000 ft ceiling and 5,000 m visibility, simulator or on-site training is also required.
When is the Annecy Festival in 2027?
From 13 to 19 June 2027 for the International Animation Film Festival, and from 15 to 18 June for Mifa, its market. The 2026 edition drew 19,100 accredited attendees, 7,180 of them for Mifa, a record according to the organiser.
