Beijing by Private Jet: the Movement Quota That Changes All
The quota, and what it really means
A movement is one landing or one take-off. Fifteen a day for all foreign aircraft combined, in a city of more than twenty million that hosts the headquarters of major groups and the country's entire institutional apparatus: the scarcity is structural, not seasonal.
The practical consequence is simple: the slot is booked before anything else. Not after the meetings are set, not once the programme is fixed. During forum, summit or major trade-fair weeks, demand far outstrips supply and is settled weeks ahead.
Capital or Daxing: two airports, two realities
- Beijing Capital (PEK), the historic airport to the north-east, has a business terminal where temporary entry permits for foreign travellers are processed on site. One limit to know: it offers no hangar space to foreign-registered aircraft, which often forces a repositioning between legs.
- Beijing Daxing (PKX), the large platform opened to the south, has developed its business terminal with an international channel dedicated to business flights and maintenance capability on site. It is the rising option for international arrivals.
The choice rests on three criteria, in this order: slot availability, the location of your meetings in the city, then parking. That is the reverse of the European reflex, where the nearest airport is picked first.
Administrative lead times
As across China, the authorisation comes from the Chinese civil aviation administration: three to five working days at minimum depending on the flight, after prior registration of the aircraft in the administration's system. For Beijing, where the slot governs everything, we recommend opening the file as soon as dates are contemplated, adjusting it later if need be.
Chinese New Year and the golden week in early October saturate the city and the administrations alike. Spring and autumn remain the best windows.
Beijing as a gateway
The capital also serves as a departure point inland. The Chongli ski resorts, hosts of the 2022 Games' snow events, are reached in about an hour on the high-speed line built for the occasion: on that run, jet plus rail comfortably beats the road.
For larger delegations, an airliner charter deserves pricing against several jets, precisely because the movement quota limits how many foreign aircraft can be present at once. Our Bangkok team builds the full file, customs formalities included.

Frequently asked questions
How many foreign jets can land in Beijing each day?
Foreign-registered aircraft are capped at a limited number of daily movements, in the order of fifteen, between 8am and 10pm. A movement is one landing or one take-off.
Capital or Daxing for a private jet?
Capital has a business terminal processing entry permits on site, but offers no hangar space to foreign registrations. Daxing has opened an international channel dedicated to business flights with maintenance capability. Slot availability often decides before geography does.
How much lead time for a flight to Beijing?
Three to five working days at minimum for the authorisation, after registration of the aircraft. Given the movement quota, it is best to open the file as soon as dates are contemplated.
How do you reach the ski resorts from Beijing?
By the high-speed line built for the 2022 Games, which reaches the foot of the Chongli resorts in about an hour. Jet then rail is faster and more reliable than the three-hour drive.
