Private Jet to Brazil: Rio, São Paulo, Trancoso, Noronha
Brazil by private jet, an 11-hour long-haul flight
Brazil has to be earned: the leg from Europe takes 11 to 12 hours, within reach of ultra-long-range jets only on a nonstop basis. The choice of aircraft shapes the whole trip: some fly Europe to Brazil nonstop, others plan a fuel stop. The table below sums up the hubs and their business-aviation airports.
| Destination | Private-jet airport | Main draw |
| São Paulo | Congonhas (CGH), Catarina (SBJH) | Business, helicopters |
| Rio de Janeiro | Santos Dumont (SDU), Galeão (GIG) | Christ the Redeemer, beaches, Carnival |
| Trancoso (Bahia) | Terravista (SBTV), Porto Seguro (BPS) | Chic beaches, the Quadrado |
| Fernando de Noronha | Noronha (FEN) | Protected nature, diving |
| Iguazu Falls | Foz do Iguaçu (IGU) | Waterfalls, national park |

São Paulo and Rio: business and icons
São Paulo is the economic capital of Brazil and Latin America, home to most of the country's multinationals. It is the region's leading business-aviation market, with one of the world's largest civil helicopter fleets and a dense network of rooftop helipads. To reach the business districts, Congonhas (CGH) sits about 8 km from the centre, while Catarina (SBJH), Brazil's first airport dedicated to business aviation, handles the largest long-range aircraft. Guarulhos (GRU) remains the main international gateway.
Rio de Janeiro plays a different tune. Santos Dumont (SDU), in the heart of the city on Guanabara Bay, offers one of the most spectacular approaches in the world; its short runway reserves it for light and midsize jets. Long-range aircraft land at Galeão (GIG), with direct links to Paris, Lisbon, London and Dubai. Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf, Copacabana, Ipanema and Carnival do the rest.
Trancoso and the Bahia coast: the jet-set beach
Trancoso is the discreet rendezvous of the Brazilian and international elite. Its Quadrado, a grassed square lined with former fishermen's cottages turned restaurants and boutiques, is its heart. The high season follows the southern summer: from late December to Carnival (February, early March), peaking between Christmas and New Year.
Access is what makes the place so rare. Trancoso has its own private aerodrome, Terravista (SBTV), a few kilometres from the Quadrado: its runway of about 1,500 m is restricted to visual flight, which calls for a case-by-case assessment for large jets. The alternative is Porto Seguro (BPS), 60 to 80 km away, followed by a road transfer (including a ferry) of 1 hour 30 to 2 hours 30, or a short helicopter flight. Further south, the car-free village of Caraíva is reached by a canoe crossing.
Nature and exclusivity: Noronha, Florianópolis, Iguazu
Brazil has some of the most exclusive nature destinations in the world, often with deliberately limited access.
- Fernando de Noronha: a listed archipelago with strictly controlled access. Visitor numbers are capped (in the order of 11,000 per month) and a daily environmental fee applies (around 106 BRL per day in 2026). Jet access has been restricted and regulated since 2022: it must be confirmed before each flight, and a turboprop often remains the most reliable option.
- Florianópolis: an international airport (FLN) with a 2,400 m runway, gateway to the chic Jurerê Internacional beach district, about forty minutes away.
- Iguazu Falls: Foz do Iguaçu (IGU), an international airport about ten kilometres from the falls, open to business jets.
- Búzios, Angra dos Reis and Paraty: beach resorts and islands of the Costa Verde, reached by small airfields and above all by helicopter from Rio (about 45 minutes).
From Europe and the Gulf: which jet for Brazil?
This is the decisive question, and the one most comparison pages avoid. Flight times remain indicative:
- From Europe: Paris or Geneva to São Paulo in 11 to 12 hours. Ultra-long-range jets (Global 7500, Gulfstream G650ER) cover the distance nonstop; the Falcon 8X is tighter and may, depending on winds and payload, plan a stop.
- From the Gulf: Dubai to São Paulo exceeds 6,500 nautical miles: beyond a realistic nonstop even in a large cabin, a technical stop (for example in Cape Verde) is the rule, for a 14 to 15 hour journey.
- Possible stops: Lisbon, the Canary Islands or Sal (Cape Verde) on the transatlantic corridor.
For a long-haul clientele, the ideal itinerary often combines a long large-cabin leg into São Paulo or Rio, then domestic hops by light jet or helicopter between the cities and to the coast. From Asia, our Bangkok and Gulf offices arrange these long legs. To choose the aircraft, see our guide on private jet range by aircraft category, in line with our other long-haul guides such as the Maldives or Saint Barthélemy.

Frequently asked questions
Which private jet should you choose for Brazil from Europe?
An ultra-long-range jet (Global 7500, Gulfstream G650ER) links Paris or Geneva to São Paulo nonstop, in 11 to 12 hours. The Falcon 8X is tighter and may plan a stop depending on winds and payload.
Is a technical stop needed to reach Brazil?
From Europe, ultra-long-range aircraft fly direct. From the Gulf (Dubai, over 6,500 nautical miles), a technical stop, for example in Cape Verde, is the rule, for a 14 to 15 hour journey.
Which airport for Rio de Janeiro by private jet?
Santos Dumont (SDU), in the city centre on the bay, takes light and midsize jets. Long-range aircraft land at Galeão (GIG), with direct links to Europe and Dubai.
Can you land at Trancoso by private jet?
Yes, at the private Terravista aerodrome (SBTV), a few kilometres from the Quadrado. Its runway of about 1,500 m is restricted to visual flight; large jets use Porto Seguro (BPS), then a road or helicopter transfer.
Can you fly to Fernando de Noronha by private jet?
Jet access has been restricted and regulated since 2022 and must be confirmed before each flight; a turboprop often remains the most reliable option. The archipelago applies a visitor cap and a daily environmental fee.
What is the best season for Brazil?
The southern summer, from December to March, is the high season for the beaches and Trancoso, peaking around the holidays and Carnival. The cities and Iguazu Falls can be visited year-round.
