The Maldives are one hour ahead of Dubai all year round. Leaving Al Maktoum at 09:00, the Falcon 2000 lands at Velana around 14:10 local time, with time to clear immigration and reach the seaplane terminal.

The cut-off is written into the Maldives AIP. Its tables for Velana put the end of evening civil twilight between 18:10 and 18:45 depending on the season, and no visual flight is allowed after that without prior approval from the authority. A late-morning departure from Dubai often means a night in Malé. We set the schedule around the time the resort gives you.

Velana, the only jet gateway to Malé

• Al Maktoum (DWC / OMDW): south-west of Dubai, customs H24, home to our Dubai office.
• Velana (MLE / VRMM): on Hulhulé island, 2.8 km from Malé, a 3,400 m runway, customs and immigration H24. The AIP requires prior permission for every non-scheduled flight and lists no hangar space for visiting aircraft.

Entering the Maldives: the IMUGA declaration, 96 hours ahead

The tourist visa is granted on arrival, with no prior application, according to Maldives Immigration. Each traveller shows a machine-readable passport valid for at least one month, a confirmed and prepaid booking at a registered establishment, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a country at risk.

The IMUGA traveller declaration is completed online, free of charge, within the 96 hours before arrival. We remind every passenger to fill it in, and we send the passenger manifest required for the aircraft.
