Casablanca, Tangier and Rabat
Casablanca (CMN) is the largest airport in the country and the kingdom's business hub, dominated by the Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993, whose 210 m minaret has been, since February 2024, the second-tallest in the world. Tangier (TNG), around 11 km from the city, opens the Strait of Gibraltar, about 13 to 14 km wide at its narrowest, the pivot point between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Rabat-Salé (RBA), the administrative capital, has a mixed civil-military airport. All are reached in around 2 hours 45 from Paris.
Fez and the desert: Ouarzazate, Merzouga
Fez (FEZ), whose runway reaches 3,200 m, opens the medina of Fès el-Bali, a UNESCO site since 1981 and home to the al-Qarawiyyin university, founded in 857. Further south, Ouarzazate (OZZ), with its 3,100 m runway able to take wide-body jets, is the gateway to the desert and to film: the Aït Ben Haddou ksar, UNESCO-listed since 1987, is one of the country's most famous filming locations, from Lawrence of Arabia in 1962. Beware a common confusion: the Erg Chebbi dunes, at Merzouga, are around 350 km from Ouarzazate and are reached more directly via Errachidia airport (ERH).
Essaouira and the far south: Dakhla
On the Atlantic, Essaouira (ESU) and its fortified medina, UNESCO-listed since 2001, is swept by near-constant trade winds, a renowned windsurf and kitesurf spot. Its shorter 2,100 m runway calls for checking aircraft compatibility by load and temperature. Finally, in the far south, Dakhla (VIL), whose modern terminal opened around 2010, borders a flat-water lagoon prized by kitesurfers, around 1,500 km south of Casablanca by road: it is a much longer leg, to be sized case by case. Dakhla lies in Western Sahara, a territory administered by Morocco.
Permits, visa and access
Every private flight to Morocco requires an ONDA authorisation (airport authority): as a guide, allow filing at least 48 hours ahead, with 72 hours recommended, the authority charging no fee for overflight. On formalities, nationals of the European Union, the United States, Canada and Australia are visa-exempt for up to 90 days, with an electronic travel authorisation (AEVM) also being rolled out for these travellers. We are the ones who handle these steps, as our article on the added value of a charter broker explains. For Marrakech, see our Marrakech airport page and our Paris to Marrakech route.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need a permit to land a private jet in Morocco?
Yes. Every private flight requires an authorisation from the Moroccan authority (ONDA). As a guide, file the request at least 48 hours ahead, with 72 hours recommended. The authority charges no fee for overflight. Our teams take care of it.
Do you need a visa for Morocco?
Nationals of the European Union, the United States, Canada and Australia are visa-exempt for up to 90 days. An electronic travel authorisation (AEVM) is also being rolled out for these travellers. A passport valid for 6 months is recommended.
Which airport to reach the desert and Merzouga?
Ouarzazate (OZZ) is the gateway to film and to Aït Ben Haddou, but the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga are around 350 km away. For Merzouga, Errachidia airport (ERH) is closer, around 100 to 130 km.
How long is the flight from Paris to Morocco?
Allow around 2 hours 45 to Casablanca and around 3 hours to Marrakech in a midsize jet, to adjust for aircraft and route. The far south (Dakhla) is much further and is sized case by case.
Which aircraft for Morocco?
A midsize jet suits the Europe to Morocco links, with most airports (Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, Ouarzazate) having long runways. Essaouira, whose runway is shorter, calls for checking take-off performance by load and temperature.
