Siam Seaplane: Our Partner for Reaching Thailand’s Islands by Seaplane

An Official Partnership in Thailand

With local teams based in Bangkok, IBC Aviation relies on Siam Seaplane to ensure continuity of travel all the way to the final destination. The objective is not to stop at the airport: after a private jet flight to or from Bangkok, our teams arrange the seaplane connection to the selected island, ensuring a seamless transfer from one aircraft to another.

This local presence, supported by our Bangkok office, allows us to coordinate the entire journey and recommend the most suitable combination according to your itinerary. You can discover our local services on the dedicated private jet charter in Bangkok page.

Siam Seaplane, Thailand’s Seaplane Operator

Founded in 2019 within the Seaplane Asia group, Siam Seaplane is Thailand’s first amphibious seaplane airline. The company obtained its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) in October 2024 and operates from private terminals in the Bangkok area, including the Don Mueang Business Aviation Terminal.

Its aircraft is the amphibious Cessna Grand Caravan EX, a single-engine turboprop equipped with retractable landing-gear floats, capable of operating both from runways and water. The cabin accommodates up to eight passengers in a refined configuration, making it ideal for couples as well as small groups. For safety and visibility reasons, flights are conducted during daylight hours.

Landing on Water: Direct Access to Thailand’s Islands

The defining advantage of a seaplane is its ability to land on water. Rather than depending on an airport, the aircraft lands as close as possible to the island before proceeding to shore. This provides direct access to islands, lagoons, and resorts without a runway, eliminating the ferry or road transfers that often follow a conventional flight.

The deployment of water landing sites is progressing gradually as regulatory approvals are granted on a site-by-site basis. The first approvals concern the Andaman Sea, around Phuket and Krabi, where the first water landing sites were authorized in 2026. The network will continue to expand as additional approvals are issued. Ultimately, this network is intended to cover both of Thailand’s major tourist coastlines:

  • Andaman Sea: Phuket and its surrounding archipelago, Krabi, Koh Lanta, and the Phi Phi Islands
  • Gulf of Thailand: Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao

This unique access naturally appeals to Thailand’s most prestigious resorts, many of which are among the destinations served, including Conrad Koh Samui, Four Seasons Koh Samui, and Rayavadee in Krabi.

Reaching the Islands from Bangkok

From Bangkok, some islands in the Gulf of Thailand, such as Koh Samui, can be reached in approximately two hours. On the Andaman coast, Phuket serves as the gateway to the surrounding islands, which can then be reached by short connecting flights. Comfortable and reliable, the Cessna Grand Caravan was specifically designed for these regional routes, bringing travelers closer to their final destination.

The value of this partnership becomes fully apparent when combining both modes of transportation. A client arrives in Bangkok by private jet, for example from Europe or the Middle East, then boards the seaplane for the final leg to the island.
