Private Jet to Abu Dhabi: Al Bateen, Yas, Saadiyat
Abu Dhabi by private jet, two airports for direct access
The city has two civil airports with complementary roles. The table below places them.
| Airport | Code | Good to know |
| Al Bateen Executive | AZI | Dedicated to business aviation, around 12 km from the centre |
| Zayed International | AUH | Main airport, around 30 km to the east |
Al Bateen Executive Airport (AZI) is the differentiator: the only airport in the region fully dedicated to business aviation, it sits in the city, around 12 km from the centre, offering proximity and discretion. Its single runway of around 3,200 metres takes heavy and ultra-long-range aircraft without constraint, and a Jetex FBO opened there in 2023. The main airport, Zayed International (AUH), renamed on 9 February 2024 (its Terminal A opened on 31 October 2023), remains an option but is further out, around 30 km to the east. To understand the value of a private terminal, read our guide to the FBO.
Yas Island: circuit, parks and marina
Yas Island concentrates the major leisure attractions. The Yas Marina Circuit, a track of around 5.3 km and 16 corners, has hosted the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix since 2009, usually as the season finale. Alongside, Ferrari World is home to Formula Rossa, long the world's fastest roller coaster. The island also gathers Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, Etihad Arena, Yas Marina and the Yas Links golf course. To prepare for the F1 event, see our article on the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Saadiyat: the cultural district
Saadiyat Island brings together the major museums. The Louvre Abu Dhabi, by Jean Nouvel with its dome and "rain of light", has been open since 11 November 2017. The Zayed National Museum, by Norman Foster, opened on 3 December 2025. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, designed by Frank Gehry, is expected to open in 2026, to be confirmed. The district also hosts teamLab Phenomena, open since April 2025, while the natural history museum is still to come. On this, discover our article on the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Around Abu Dhabi: Corniche, desert and Dubai
In the centre, the Corniche unfolds its waterfront, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque imposes its domes, and Qasr Al Watan opens its presidential palace to the public. To the south, the Liwa desert, on the edge of the Rub' al Khali, is home to the Qasr Al Sarab resort, around 2.5 hours by road. Finally, the proximity of Dubai, around 140 km away (about fifteen minutes' flight, 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30 by road), makes Abu Dhabi a natural stop on combined Gulf itineraries: see our Dubai destination.
From Europe and the Gulf: which jet?
From Europe (Paris, Geneva, London), around 6.5 to 7 hours nonstop call for a heavy jet or an ultra-long-range aircraft (Falcon, Global, Gulfstream). From the Gulf, the legs are short: around 15 minutes' flight from Dubai, around 1 hour from Doha, 1.5 to 2 hours from Riyadh, within a light or midsize jet's reach. These times are indicative and vary with aircraft, winds and season, as summer heat affects take-off performance. Our ultra-long-range jets handle the direct links from Europe.
