Private Jet to Le Touquet: 30 Minutes from London, Customs

Le Touquet-Elizabeth II, half an hour from London

The town of Le Touquet owns the airport and runs it through a municipal authority, under the name Aéroport International Le Touquet-Elizabeth II. Its traffic is that of a general aviation field: the French airports union, UAF, counted 20,735 movements in 2025, only 384 of them commercial.

  • Codes: LTQ (IATA), LFAT (ICAO)
  • Runway: 13/31, 1,850 m by 40 m, paved
  • Approach: Category I ILS on runway 13, RNP procedures in both directions
  • Fuel: Jet A1 and AVGAS 100LL
  • Status: open to international traffic according to the airport's website, a border crossing point for the UAF

Why the AIP declares only 1,700 m for landing

The French AIP in force on 3 September 2026 limits landing distance to 1,700 m in both directions. Two things account for it: the non-frangible ILS equipment shelter 150 m from the runway end, and the clearance envelope of the D939 road. On runway 13 they also cut the take-off distance to 1,700 m.

Pavement strength is published as PCN 18. That is a modest value: a light jet or a turboprop is comfortable with it, a midsize is checked against its weight, and anything heavier is confirmed with the airport.

The AIP adds that the runway closes in snow and limits crosswind to 20 knots when wet, 25 when dry.

An early-afternoon break in air traffic control

The airport opens year-round from 9am to 7pm French time, an hour ahead of London. Air traffic control and level 5 fire cover, however, follow split hours published in the AIP and confirmed by the airport's 2026 tariff guide: 9am to 1.30pm then 3pm to 7pm in summer, 9am to 1.30pm then 2.30pm to 7pm in winter.

A worked example makes the point. A Farnborough departure at 12.30pm London time, 1.30pm in France, lands at about 2pm, in the middle of the summer break. For a commercial flight, a category that includes any charter, the airport allows an extension from 30 minutes before the planned arrival to 30 minutes after the planned departure, requested from the airport authority 24 hours before the day of the flight.

Arriving from London: what customs want to see

The United Kingdom is outside Schengen, so a flight from London clears customs, reachable from 9am to 7pm French time. According to the AIP, the request sent to the customs unit must include:

  • The aircraft registration
  • The captain's name
  • Every passenger's name, with passport or identity card number

The passenger list and document details therefore go with the booking, not on the morning of the flight. The 2026 tariff guide adds that ground handling is compulsory for any aircraft of 6 tonnes or more, and the airport authority provides it itself.

Sea mist, and why the alternate matters

The AIP warns that the airfield can be covered by sea mist within minutes. It also flags heavy bird movements by day and night, and a racecourse to the west of the runway 13 threshold. The alternate airport chosen by the crew deserves a closer look here, and we review it with the onward drive in mind.

Enduropale, golf and Le Westminster

In winter, Le Touquet's fixture is the Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais, an enduro race run on the beach. The organiser has announced its 51st edition for 29 to 31 January 2027, having presented the new trophy to Britain's Todd Kellett, winner four times in a row.

The Golf du Touquet has 45 holes over three courses, La Mer, La Forêt and Le Manoir, with its own hotel. In town, Le Westminster, a five-star Barrière hotel, has been receiving guests since 1924. The Canche racecourse, for its part, stages trotting and jump racing meetings.

CJ3, PC-12 or midsize: sizing the aircraft

On a half-hour flight, cruise speed counts for little. The choice rests on the runway, passenger numbers and luggage.

  • Cessna Citation CJ3: a light jet from €4,000 per hour, with performance calculated for each flight against weight and runway condition.
  • Pilatus PC-12: a turboprop, well suited to the shortest sectors, from Brussels for example.
  • Midsize: from €4,800 per hour, possible once weight has been checked against 1,700 m and the pavement.

Flight times are orders of magnitude: around 30 minutes from Farnborough or Paris-Le Bourget, 35 from Brussels, in the order of 45 from Luxembourg and around 1h05 from Geneva, depending on aircraft, winds and any wait for a slot. The light category is detailed on our light jets page, and the hourly rate of each category on our rental cost page.

What we settle before a Le Touquet flight

IBC Aviation arranges flights to or from Le Touquet through its Paris office, introduced on our private jet charter in Paris page, and selects the aircraft from certified operators.

Three points come before the final quote. The arrival time is set against the early-afternoon break and, where needed, the extension is requested 24 hours ahead. The aircraft's fit with 1,700 m and a PCN 18 pavement is confirmed. Finally, the customs file leaves with every passenger's identity details.

For the London end of the trip, our London airports page compares departure airfields, and our London by private jet guide covers flights in the other direction. Our article on the added value of a charter broker explains what our role changes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fly from London to Le Touquet by private jet?

Yes. The airport is a border crossing point, with customs reachable from 9am to 7pm French time. The request gives the aircraft registration, the captain's name and each passenger with passport or identity card number. The flight takes around 30 minutes from Farnborough.

How much runway is available for landing at Le Touquet?

1,700 m in both directions, on a runway of 1,850 by 40 metres. The ILS shelter and the D939 road envelope reduce the distances published in the September 2026 AIP. The pavement, rated PCN 18, points towards light jets and turboprops.

Does air traffic control at Le Touquet stop in the early afternoon?

Yes. According to the AIP and the 2026 tariff guide, control and level 5 fire cover stop from 1.30pm to 3pm in summer and from 1.30pm to 2.30pm in winter, French time. For a charter flight, an extension is requested from the airport authority 24 hours before the day of the flight.

When is the 2027 Enduropale?

The organiser has announced the Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais for 29 to 31 January 2027. Britain's Todd Kellett won the previous four editions. With the airport open from 9am to 7pm French time, arrivals that weekend are planned around those hours, extension included.

What weather precaution applies to a Le Touquet flight?

Allow for sea mist, which the AIP says can cover the airfield within minutes. The crew selects an alternate airport, and our teams review the drive that would follow a diversion. Crosswind is also limited to 20 knots on a wet runway and 25 on a dry one.
