5,435 km, ending some fifty kilometres from the equator

The great-circle distance between Le Bourget and Léon-M'Ba comes close to 5,435 km, flown in 6h30 to 7h15 depending on the aircraft and the wind.

The airport sits at 0°27' north, some fifty kilometres from the equator and about 7 km from Libreville. Its runway 16/34 measures 3,000 m by 45 m, according to the Libreville section of the AIP, in force since 9 July 2026. One instruction in that document applies to every crew: overflying the city is prohibited for all aircraft.

Gabon asks only for advance notice on private flights

The common section of the ASECNA AIP splits its member states into two groups for private flights. Ten of them, including Cameroon and Niger, require prior overflight and stopover authorisation. Gabon sits on the other list, alongside the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania and Chad, where notice sent 2 to 3 days before the flight is enough.

A charter follows a different rule, as a non-scheduled commercial flight: the operator applies to the competent authorities within the required time, and we coordinate that request with it. As a matter of principle, the decree of 27 May 1969, reproduced in the Gabon AIP, grants overflight and landing rights to aircraft registered in an ICAO member state, state aircraft excepted.

Léon-M'Ba: book the handler, hangar and fuel around the clock

Gabon visa: five clear days in Paris, yellow fever checked

Every traveller needs a passport valid for more than six months and a visa, applied for on the website of the Directorate General of Documentation and Immigration (DGDI), according to France Diplomatie (page updated on 15 September 2026). A stay beyond three months calls for an open-ended entry authorisation.

In Paris, the DGDI office that the Gabonese embassy in France points to sets its own rules. The file must arrive no later than five clear days before departure, with the applicant or a legal representative present in person, and a service agency may file on behalf of a business traveller. Processing takes 72 hours, or 24 hours express. Travellers based in Lagos, London or Johannesburg can ask our teams which route applies to their passport.

The vaccination card must show the yellow fever vaccine, and the authorities check it systematically on arrival. France Diplomatie also points to two rainy seasons, from September to December and from February to June, when malaria cases rise sharply. Prevention is best arranged with a doctor before the trip.

Choosing the aircraft for Paris to Libreville

Paris to Libreville is quoted by the flight hour, with no set fare. The only published benchmark is the category's hourly rate: from €6,500 an hour for a heavy jet, €9,000 to €12,000 an hour for an ultra-long-range jet. The quote then moves with the aircraft's home base, the length of your stay and what the jet does between the two legs, waiting in Libreville with its crew or flying home empty. The order of 8 January 1971, cited in the Gabon AIP, names five: Libreville, Port-Gentil, Franceville, Moanda and Bitam. The current AIP directory (AD 1.3 of 6 August 2026), however, lists only three for international traffic: Libreville, Port-Gentil and Franceville.
