Romantic Getaways by Private Jet: Prague, Verona, Santorini

Prague, the city of a hundred spires

Nicknamed "the city of a hundred spires", a count attributed to the mathematician Bernard Bolzano in the early 19th century (close to 500 are recorded today), Prague has preserved a historic centre of rare coherence. On the Old Town Square, the astronomical clock installed in 1410 is the oldest still in operation in the world. Charles Bridge, the Castle (open all year) and the Clementinum, whose guided tour of about fifty minutes reveals the baroque library, set an ideal winter scene for two; a cruise on the Vltava completes the interlude. A useful note for February: the Castle's Royal Garden only opens from April to October.

  • Where to stay: the Four Seasons Prague, the only Forbes Five-Star hotel in the Czech Republic; The Emblem, a boutique hotel in the Old Town; the Mandarin Oriental, in a former monastery in Malá Strana, with a spa set in a former Renaissance chapel.
  • Where to dine: La Finestra in Cucina, an Italian table in the Old Town selected by the Michelin Guide; La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise or Field, two of the Czech capital's five starred restaurants; SaSaZu for livelier Asian dining.

Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet

Symbol of the love of Romeo and Juliet, Verona is explored on foot, from the Piazza delle Erbe to the Castelvecchio. Juliet's House can be visited (online tickets only; since April 2026, access is through the neighbouring Teatro Nuovo); its famous balcony, added during a restoration in the late 1930s, still crystallises the legend. The Arena, a Roman amphitheatre from the 1st century, can be visited all year round; its opera festival, however, is a summer affair (103rd edition from 12 June to 12 September 2026). And Lake Garda is only 25 to 30 km away, 12 to 15 minutes by train.

  • Where to stay: Escalus Luxury Suites, ten suites a few steps from the Arena (Small Luxury Hotels of the World); The Gentleman of Verona, fourteen rooms in a 16th-century palazzo; the Relais Fra' Lorenzo, on the hills, with views over the city.
  • Where to dine: Casa Perbellini 12 Apostoli, three Michelin stars near the Piazza delle Erbe; Il Desco, one star, run by the Rizzo family for more than forty years.

Santorini, the caldera out of season

Jewel of the Cyclades, Santorini offers in winter what it can no longer offer in August: calm. Let us be precise, because this is what makes the stay a success: much of the island closes out of season. A handful of addresses stay open in Oia, more in Fira, and Ammoudi Bay is closed. The Minoan site of Akrotiri can be visited all year round (except Tuesdays in winter), Ancient Thera by appointment. The sunsets over the caldera, for their part, know no season. Worth noting: the Michelin Guide extends its selection to Santorini from late 2026; to date, no restaurant on the island holds a star. To plan a summer stay, see our Santorini destination and our private jet to Greece guide.

  • Where to stay: the De Sol Hotel & Spa, at the gates of Fira, open all year round (the safe option for February); the Atrina Canava 1894, cave houses in Oia above the caldera, in season.
  • Where to dine: Lauda in Oia, the village's oldest restaurant (1971), whose culinary direction is signed by Emmanuel Renaut; Selene in Fira, in a former 18th-century monastery. Two seasonal addresses, to book for the warmer months.

Private jet access: three airports, three profiles

CityAirport (codes)Good to know
PragueVáclav Havel (PRG / LKPR)Terminal 3 dedicated to business aviation, on-site FBO
VeronaVillafranca (VRN / LIPX)3,068 m runway, CAT IIIb certified (fog)
SantoriniThira (JTR / LGSR)short runway (just over 2,000 m), reduced winter hours

In Prague, business aviation has its own terminal (Terminal 3), with dedicated FBO and handling, about 30 minutes from the centre. In Verona, Villafranca Airport, 10 km from the city, offers a 3,068 m runway and a precious winter asset: CAT IIIb certification that keeps landings possible in the dense fog common across the Po Valley. In Santorini, the airport is 6 km from Fira; its short runway handles all common business jets (case-by-case performance study for the largest aircraft) and the island can be reached all year round, with flights planned in daytime during winter. In summer the airport is slot-coordinated and saturated: February, by contrast, offers peaceful access. See the role of the private terminal (FBO).

Which private jet, for which flight times?

Allow about 1 h 20 to 1 h 35 from Paris to Prague, in the order of 50 minutes from Geneva to Verona (1 h 15 to 1 h 30 from Paris) and 3 h to 3 h 30 from Paris to Santorini (2 h 40 to 3 h from Geneva), to be confirmed depending on the aircraft and conditions. A light jet covers Prague and Verona; to Santorini, a midsize aircraft flies non-stop, while a light jet may need a technical stop depending on wind and load. To extend Italy beyond Verona, see our private jet to Italy guide.

Frequently asked questions

Which romantic destinations can you reach by private jet?

Prague, Verona and Santorini are among Europe's finest getaways for two, within short flight times: about 1 h 20 to Prague, 1 h 15 to Verona and 3 h to Santorini from Paris. IBC Aviation arranges charters to or from these destinations.

Is Santorini a good idea in February?

Yes, provided you know that much of the island closes out of season: a few addresses stay open in Oia, more in Fira, and some hotels such as the De Sol open all year round. In exchange, the caldera can be enjoyed in a calm unheard of in summer.

Which starred table for a dinner in Verona?

Casa Perbellini 12 Apostoli, three Michelin stars near the Piazza delle Erbe, and Il Desco, one star run by the Rizzo family, are the two great tables of central Verona.

Which airport for each of these destinations?

Prague Václav Havel (PRG), with its Terminal 3 dedicated to business aviation; Verona Villafranca (VRN), CAT IIIb certified against fog; and Santorini Thira (JTR), 6 km from Fira, open all year round with reduced hours in winter.
