Cessna Citation Ascend in flight over the sea at sunset, a midsize jet available for charter through IBC Aviation

Citation Ascend Charter: Flat Floor, 12 Seats, 3,593 km

The Citation Ascend: 3,593 km with four passengers, up to 12 seats

The Citation Ascend is Cessna's latest midsize jet, certified by the FAA on 5 November 2025 and first delivered at the end of December 2025. Textron Aviation quotes 3,593 km (2,233 miles) of range with four passengers, certification for up to 12 seats and a choice between a flat floor and a dropped aisle. Two things decide a flight: few airframes are yet offered for charter, and each one must be flown by an operator authorised for your route. Our Geneva office checks both before proposing an aircraft: request a quote for a Citation Ascend flight, with a reply within the hour.

Textron's figures, and the conditions behind them

The manufacturer computes its performance on a dry runway at sea-level altitude, in a standard atmosphere and with no wind; range assumes four passengers at high-speed cruise, with regulatory reserves and a 185 km (115 mile) alternate. These numbers compare aircraft. They do not plan your flight.

Textron's sales brochure, still in circulation in 2026, prints figures it labels preliminary: 3,519 km and 386 kg. We use the numbers from the certification announcement and the manufacturer's specification page.

Flat floor or dropped aisle: 21 cm of headroom at stake

This is the question to ask before you sign. With the flat floor, the Ascend's cabin measures 1.52 m (5 ft) of headroom; with the optional dropped aisle it reaches 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in), according to Textron. The flat floor frees legroom between facing seats; the dropped aisle lets most passengers cross the cabin close to upright.

Both layouts carry the same name, and an operator's offer does not always say which one you will get. We ask for the exact configuration, the number of seats actually fitted and recent cabin photos before passing the proposal on to you.

The rest is less visible: windows about 15% larger, a wireless cabin management system and 19 USB ports. Satellite internet remains an option, with Starlink available since April 2026; if you need to work on board, we confirm the aircraft is equipped (see our note on wifi on a private jet).

Saint-Tropez takes a calculation, Cannes does not

At maximum weight, Textron quotes 1,158 m (3,800 ft) of take-off distance. The runway at Saint-Tropez La Môle is 1,071 m (3,514 ft) long, according to the French AIP. To leave La Môle, the Ascend therefore takes off below its maximum weight, with less fuel or baggage, and summer heat lengthens the distance needed. On arrival, the 969 m quoted for landing fits within the runway.

Before confirming a La Môle departure, we have the operator calculate that day's take-off weight. If the fuel needed for the rest of the trip does not fit, we plan a refuelling stop or a departure from Cannes-Mandelieu: its 1,540 m runway is closed only to jets above 35 tonnes, and the Ascend weighs 9.3 tonnes at most. Arranging a Citation Ascend flight with IBC Aviation

IBC Aviation operates no aircraft. Our Geneva team contacts the operators flying an Ascend, compares the available airframes and checks three things before quoting: the cabin layout and the seats actually installed, the take-off weight on short runways, and the operator itself. Our Dubai and Bangkok offices do the same for flights in the Gulf and Southeast Asia.

The last check matters in Europe. A commercial flight between two cities of the European Union must be flown by a European operator, and an aircraft registered in Europe must fall under a type certificate recognised by EASA. We verify both, airframe by airframe. The cabotage rules explain why a jet operated from the United States cannot fly paying passengers from Paris to Nice.

When no Ascend is free on your dates, we say so and offer the closest match: a Citation XLS from the same family, or another available midsize jet. Send us your dates and the number of passengers, and we will show you the aircraft available, Ascend included.

How far it flies non-stop from Geneva, Dubai or Singapore

With four passengers, the published 3,593 km reach across the Mediterranean from Western Europe, from the Gulf to India and across Southeast Asia. Our block-time estimates, engine start to engine stop, depending on winds:

  • Geneva to Athens: about 2h45 for 1,730 km (1,075 miles).
  • Dubai Al Maktoum to Mumbai: about 3h00 for 1,930 km (1,200 miles).
  • Singapore to Bali: about 2h40 for 1,670 km (1,040 miles).
  • Geneva to Marrakech: about 3h05 for 2,030 km (1,260 miles).

Textron's brochure shows shorter times, such as Chicago to Teterboro in 1h21 or Paris to Istanbul in 2h35. These are manufacturer figures excluding taxi, computed for four passengers with 85% probability winds, whereas a quote counts block time. A coast-to-coast crossing of the United States, about 3,900 km from Teterboro to Van Nuys, is beyond the published range.

The 3,593 km figure assumes four passengers. With full tanks, Textron quotes 408 kg (900 lb) of payload: four people and their bags, little more. With eight passengers, the operator carries less fuel and the range shrinks, so a full cabin from Paris to Tenerife, about 2,840 km (1,765 miles), may need a stop, which we build into the quote from the start.

Price: the hourly rate of a midsize jet

The Citation Ascend is chartered by the flight hour, with no flat fare. A midsize jet starts from €4,800 per hour; the quote adds positioning, parking and airport charges. On a route we price, the same family gives a benchmark: London to Geneva starts from €12,000 in a Citation XLS, 8 seats, for about 1h30.

A group that wants to stand up for four hours should look at a super midsize, from €5,500 per hour. Empty legs sometimes lower the bill, and our private jet charter rates set out each category.

Against the Citation XLS and the Latitude

The Ascend extends the 560XL series, of which Textron has delivered more than 1,000 aircraft since 2000. It keeps the family's base and short-runway ability, with PW545D engines, Garmin G5000 avionics with autothrottle and a new cabin. Its auxiliary power unit, approved for use with no pilot on board, heats or cools the cabin on the ground before you arrive, where the airport allows it.

The Citation Latitude sits one category up: 1.83 m (6 ft) of headroom, 5,000 km of range and a higher hourly rate. For two hours with four on board, the Ascend is enough. Beyond three hours with a full cabin, our midsize or super midsize comparison helps you decide.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charter a Citation Ascend?

It is charged by the flight hour, with no flat fare: a midsize jet starts from €4,800 per hour, plus positioning and charges. As a benchmark from the same family, London to Geneva starts from €12,000 in a Citation XLS, 8 seats, for about 1h30.

What is the Citation Ascend's range and flight time?

Textron quotes 3,593 km (2,233 miles) with four passengers, at high-speed cruise and with regulatory reserves. Allow about 2h45 from Geneva to Athens and 3h00 from Dubai Al Maktoum to Mumbai. With full tanks, only 408 kg remain for passengers and baggage, so range falls with a full cabin.

How many passengers does a Citation Ascend carry?

It is certified for up to 12 passengers, in a cabin 5.64 m long and 1.68 m wide. Headroom depends on the layout: 1.52 m with the flat floor, 1.73 m with the dropped aisle. We ask the operator for the number of seats actually installed before proposing the aircraft.

Can a Citation Ascend take off from Saint-Tropez La Môle?

In principle yes, provided it leaves lighter. The runway is 1,071 m long, while Textron quotes 1,158 m to take off at maximum weight. We have the operator calculate that day's weight and, if the fuel needed does not fit, we plan a refuelling stop or a departure from Cannes-Mandelieu, whose runway is 1,540 m long.

When did the Citation Ascend enter service?

Unveiled at the EBACE show in Geneva in May 2023, it was certified by the FAA on 5 November 2025, after more than 1,000 hours of flight testing on two aircraft. The first delivery took place at the end of December 2025 in Wichita, home of Textron Aviation, which then announced a ramp-up in production.
