Racing yachts off the coast of Phuket during the King's Cup regatta

Phuket King's Cup Regatta 2026 by Private Jet

Eight days, which changes the brief

Duration is the first thing to take on board. An eight-day regatta is not handled like a one-off event: owners, crews and guests rotate across the period, and guest turnover often runs to several waves.

That rotation is precisely what business aviation does well and scheduled travel handles badly.

Bringing one group in on Wednesday, taking another out on Friday, then flying owners home on Sunday evening after the prize-giving calls for a flexibility the airlines do not offer at this time of year. Across eight days it rarely amounts to fewer than three movements.

December is the month when weather on the Andaman coast is at its steadiest. That is also what explains the concentration of events on these dates. And the pressure that follows, on hotels as much as on airfields.

December in Thailand: three events collide

This is the point we check as a matter of routine for our clients. December packs several major fixtures into a few days of each other: the King's Cup from the 5th to the 12th, but also Wonderfruit from the 3rd to the 7th and Tomorrowland on the 11th, 12th and 13th, both in Chon Buri province.

The country's business aviation traffic feels it across the whole period, including at fields hosting none of these events. Aircraft parking at Phuket International (HKT) becomes the scarce resource, ahead of slots.

The practical consequence: across an eight-day stay, the question is not only where you land but where the aircraft waits. Depending on the actual time on the ground, repositioning it can be more rational than leaving it idle. Our teams cost both options before deciding.

Which aircraft

From Europe, Phuket is reached non-stop with an ultra long range aircraft. From Dubai, Singapore or Hong Kong, a heavy jet covers the distance comfortably.

For guest rotations out of Bangkok during the week, a lighter aircraft does the job: the Bangkok to Phuket sector takes a little over an hour, to or from the island depending on the wave.

The boat and the aircraft

The King's Cup draws clients who own or charter a yacht, and the two logistics cross constantly. Our yacht and private jet article sets out how the two calendars fit together.

To reach the surrounding islands between race days, the seaplane opens access that a speedboat takes longer to serve. The IBC Bangkok office handles files for the region.

Frequently asked questions

What are the dates of the 2026 King's Cup?

From 5 to 12 December 2026 in Phuket, for the thirty-seventh edition of the regatta.

Which airport should you use for a private jet?

Phuket International (HKT), at the north of the island. In December, aircraft parking rather than slots becomes the limiting resource.

Why is December especially busy?

Three major events follow one another: Wonderfruit from 3 to 7 December, the King's Cup from the 5th to the 12th, and Tomorrowland on the 11th, 12th and 13th. The country's business aviation traffic feels it across the period.

Can guests be flown in mid-week?

Yes, and it is the usual pattern over an eight-day regatta. The Bangkok to Phuket sector takes a little over an hour and allows rotations in several waves.

Should the aircraft stay on the island?

It depends on the actual length of the stay. Over eight days in high season, repositioning is sometimes more rational than leaving the aircraft idle. Our teams cost both options.
