Chamonix by private jet: Geneva, then 1 h 15 by road

Private jet passengers never pass through Geneva's main terminal. Their building, which the airport calls T3, stands at Chemin des Papillons 20, off the Route de Meyrin, and that is where the car for Chamonix collects them.

No runway in the valley, and two restricted helipads

The aerodrome index of the French AIP, in its September 2026 cycle, lists no landing ground for aeroplanes in Chamonix. It does list two helipads, and neither serves passenger transfers: the hospital pad, at 3,399 ft, is restricted to medical transport, while the town's pad, at 3,532 ft, is kept for assistance and rescue operations.

Further down the Arve valley, Sallanches no longer appears in the AIP as an aerodrome. Only its hospital helipad remains, for restricted use. A helicopter from Geneva is still possible, on two conditions. The airport requires it to book a position on its heliport, and the operator must confirm an authorised landing site near your chalet. Mountain weather and luggage volume settle the rest, so the car stays at the core of the plan.

Midnight in Geneva sets the Sunday return

Night operations in Geneva follow the Swiss federal ordinance on aviation infrastructure. Slot Coordination Switzerland sums it up: departures banned from midnight to 06:00, arrivals banned from midnight to 05:00, and between 22:00 and midnight, movements only under conditions such as the aircraft's noise index.

The airport's operating regulations, in the version dated 1 January 2025, add a further step. Any commercial movement planned between 22:00 and 06:00 must first be submitted for the operator's approval, and a charter flight counts as commercial.

The same text sets quotas for take-offs after 22:00. Once they are used up, each late departure pays a charge the regulations describe as steeply progressive. With 1 h 15 on the road, we therefore time the chalet departure for late afternoon rather than after the last run of the day.

Geneva, a route with a set starting price

Chamonix is not among our published price examples, but Geneva is. The amounts below are one-way, starting prices, to the airport only, with the transfer to the valley on top.

Other routes are quoted at the hourly rate of the chosen category. There is no published New York to Geneva route, so a transatlantic arrival is quoted case by case.

UTMB in late August, Hameau Albert 1er all year round

Every year at the end of August, the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc brings together more than 10,000 runners across eight races, according to the organiser. The flagship race, 174 km in 2026, starts in Chamonix; the 2026 edition ran from 24 to 30 August. The 2027 dates had not been published by mid-September 2026, and we will book hotel, car and Geneva slot together once they are.

For a place to stay, Hameau Albert 1er, a five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel, has been run by the Carrier family since 1903. Its fine-dining restaurant, the Albert 1er, holds one Michelin star according to the hotel, and independent chalets sit alongside the suites in a one-hectare park close to the centre.
