Private Jet to Évian: Geneva at 50 km, Annemasse and Slots

Évian by private jet, via Geneva 50 km away

The French AIP index of aerodromes lists no airfield at Évian. The gateway is therefore Geneva Airport, in Switzerland, at the south-western tip of the lake: Évian's tourist office counts 50 km from the airport, and 45 km from the city of Geneva on the D1005, which follows the southern shore. Allow in the order of an hour by road, depending on traffic.

Geneva: a slot for every movement

For Évian, the deciding constraint sits at the Swiss end of the trip. Genève Aéroport's rule for general and business aviation, dated 15 July 2011 and stamped by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation, sets aside a minimum of four slots per hour for these flights; barring exemptions, no aircraft lands or leaves without its own. Booking opens only 56 days out, eight weeks before the day of the flight.

A granted slot comes with a 20-minute tolerance, measured on the times the aircraft leaves and reaches its stand. Beyond it, or with a change of aircraft category, the rule treats the slot as misused. A stay in Évian is therefore booked outbound and return in one go, with slack on the departure time from the lake.

Two more limits frame the stay. A federal ordinance bars arrivals at Geneva from midnight to 05:00 and departures from midnight to 06:00. An aircraft that stays on the ground beyond three hours must obtain the airport's consent; failing that, it generally repositions empty and comes back for the return. On arrival, passengers go through a private terminal, or FBO, run by Jet Aviation or by Signature.

Annemasse: 1,300 m on the French side, visual flight only

Annemasse aerodrome (LFLI), 1 km east of the town, offers a runway on the French side. Its visual approach chart, current in September 2026 according to the French aeronautical information service (SIA), shows a paved 12/30 runway of 1,300 m by 30, with 1,105 m declared for landing on runway 12 and 1,088 m on runway 30.

The rest of the chart narrows its use. There is no tower and no flight information service: crews self-announce on a common frequency. Arrival is visual only: an aircraft flying Geneva's instrument approach must leave it by 3,000 ft at the latest, and the Mont Salève high ground rises between reporting point S and the runway. Firefighting cover is category 1, Jet A1 is available by day, and customs require one hour's notice.

With 1,088 to 1,105 m to land on, Annemasse suits a turboprop such as the PC-12 first. For a jet, even a light one, the margin gets tight and the aircraft operator decides. If the weather rules out visual flight, the arrival switches to Geneva.

From runway to lakeside: road, boat or train

From Geneva Airport, a car remains the most direct transfer for passengers and their luggage. A meeting in Lausanne combines well with the boat: according to the tourist office, the Lausanne to Évian crossing takes 35 minutes, and a taxi rank waits where the CGN boats arrive. The Léman Express also links Geneva and Annemasse with Évian, in 1 h 12 from Geneva-Cornavin station.

July 2027: a golf major, and summits

The Amundi Evian Championship, a major of women's golf, will be played from 8 to 11 July 2027 at the Evian Resort Golf Club, according to its official website. For an arrival at Geneva on 8 July, slot booking opens 56 days out, around mid-May 2027, and we file the request that day.

Évian also hosts international summits. During the G7 summit of June 2026, the Lake Geneva airspace was restricted from 10 to 18 June, Geneva included. When such a summit is announced, we monitor NOTAMs before confirming any flight to Geneva.

Hôtel Royal, the Palace of the Evian Resort

The Hôtel Royal is one of the 33 hotels holding the Palace distinction from Atout France in the June 2026 list, and the only one in Évian. According to the Evian Resort, it has 150 rooms and 32 suites on a 19-hectare private estate above the town, within the same resort as the tournament's golf course.

Which aircraft to reach Évian

Geneva's runway accepts any business aircraft, so the choice comes down to distance and passenger numbers. The flight times below are indicative, depending on the aircraft, winds and slots.

• From London: about 1 h 30, for example in an 8-seat Citation XLS, midsize category from €4,800 per hour.
• From Paris, Luxembourg or Nice: a light jet is enough, for about an hour from Paris or Luxembourg and 50 minutes from Nice, from €4,000 per hour.
• From Dubai: about 6 h 35 in a heavy jet, from €6,500 per hour.
• From New York: usually an ultra long range jet, at €9,000 to €12,000 per hour.
