The constraint nobody mentions: twelve seats

Here is the detail that decides how a group travels. The private speedboats serving the island take twelve passengers at most. A jet able to carry fourteen therefore reaches the jetty with more people than the boat can lift.

The consequence is mechanical: two rotations, so an hour and a half between the first and the last arrivals, or a second boat booked in advance. Our teams check this at quotation, before proposing an aircraft.

Shared transfers exist too, but they run on a fixed schedule. On a private jet arrival, whose whole point is choosing your hour, that rigidity cancels part of the benefit. The private transfer remains the coherent answer.

Phuket or Krabi, the real trade-off

With the island equidistant, two itineraries look equal on paper. Phuket offers a 3,100 m runway open 24 hours a day, a dedicated business aviation terminal, and the most established sea link to the island. Krabi offers 3,000 m, also continuous, with direct ramp access and far less traffic.

In high season, from December to March, the gap opens on the ground rather than in the air. An afternoon arrival into Phuket in February can cost more time between aircraft and car than a routing via Krabi adds on the water.

So we ask the question in the reverse of the usual order: what time do you want to be on the island, not which airport do you want to leave from.

What the seaplane will change, and what it does not change yet

Phang Nga bay falls within the zone covered by the first approved landing sites of Siam Seaplane, of which IBC Aviation is the official partner. The amphibious Cessna Grand Caravan EX carries eight passengers and flies in daylight.

The island, and why it stays quiet

Koh Yao Noi lives on fishing and rice growing. Its lack of a runway has kept at bay the development that transformed its neighbours, and paddy fields, pearl farms and fishing villages still occupy most of the land, which registers within minutes of stepping off the boat.

Six Senses Yao Noi spreads across seventy-two acres facing the karst pinnacles of the bay, with a view that ranks among the most photographed in Thailand. It is the address that introduced the island to an international clientele, without changing its pace.

Around it, Phang Nga bay unrolls its limestone islands, among them Koh Hong and its enclosed lagoons, reachable only on a favourable tide through narrow passages cut into the rock. Sea kayaking and climbing are the structuring activities here. The beach comes second.

Arranging your trip to or from Koh Yao Noi

The typical file is built backwards. You start from the hour you want to be on the island, then work up the chain: the boat and its capacity, the marina and its schedule, the road from the airport, and only then the aircraft and its slot. That order avoids the unpleasant surprise of the last kilometre.

From Bangkok, the first stage takes about 1h20 on a light jet. From Singapore, allow in the order of two hours, and a non-stop arrival from Europe remains possible on an ultra long range aircraft into Phuket.
