Mumbai to Phuket in around 4h10, the whole wedding on one timetable

A heavy jet such as the Falcon 2000, with ten seats, flies from Mumbai to Phuket in around 4h10 and from Delhi in around 4h20, from EUR 6,500 per hour. Phuket, open 24 hours a day, has a 3,100 m runway and a private terminal with its own immigration and customs.

Two aircraft, one programme: the family jet and the guests' airliner

A wedding party rarely fits in one cabin. The usual answer is two aircraft on the same schedule.

• The family: a Falcon 2000 takes ten passengers, a Challenger 350 nine, from EUR 5,500 per hour in the super midsize category.
• The guests: a chartered single-aisle airliner, Airbus A320 or A321, Boeing 737, carries 150 to 220 passengers; a wide-body, Airbus A330 or Boeing 777 or 787, from 250 to more than 400. Our page on chartering a commercial aircraft sets out each size.

One airliner brings every guest in on the same day, at the same hour, and the ceremony calendar holds. The airliner is quoted on request, on the dates and the number of seats.

India adds one rule that shapes the plan. Cabotage is prohibited: a chartered foreign aircraft may not pick up passengers at one Indian airport to set them down at another. Guests living in Delhi and in Mumbai therefore leave on two separate flights, or join by an Indian-registered aircraft. Phuket or Koh Samui: the runway and the season decide

Phuket takes every aircraft in the plan. Its runway 27 measures 3,100 m, the airport never closes, and the private jet terminal, open since February 2022, clears the family on site. For a guest airliner arriving from India, it is the natural gateway.

Koh Samui works differently. Its single runway of 2,100 m by 45 takes light and midsize jets without question; a heavier aircraft, fuelled for the return to India, is calculated case by case. The season weighs as much as the runway. The south-west monsoon soaks the Andaman coast, Phuket and Krabi, from May to October, so the Indian wedding season, from November to February, falls in its dry months. The Gulf of Thailand, around Samui, has its own wet season later in the year, generally towards its end: for a December date, we check it before you commit.

Some resorts have no runway at all. Siam Seaplane, our official partner, flies the amphibious Cessna Grand Caravan EX, up to eight passengers, and its first water landing sites around Phuket and Krabi were authorised in 2026. The seaplane to the Thai islands can carry the couple or the family to the ceremony. It is booked with the flight.

Paperwork on both sides: the DGCA permit and the Thai arrival card

In India, every foreign non-scheduled aircraft needs prior approval from the DGCA, the civil aviation authority, issued as a YA number carried on the flight plan. The minimum is three working days, with the flight on the fourth, and a local sponsor letter is generally requested. Entry and exit go through an international airport, with customs and immigration. In Thailand, the civil aviation authority's AIP requires the same three business days for a non-scheduled flight, requested online, and a landing at a customs airport, which Phuket is.

For the guests, the rules changed this month. Since 15 September 2026, holders of an ordinary Indian passport enter Thailand for tourism without a visa for up to 30 days, according to the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi; a longer stay needs an e-visa. Every traveller also completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card in the three days before arrival. We collect passport details early and send the link with the flight confirmation.
